Bevelled text is great for fantasy covers because it makes the text look metallic, shiny and gives the cover more depth. I'll just be explaining how to do a very basic bevel, which is super easy to do. After doing the basic bevel, it's sometimes nice to add sparkles or a shadow or whatever you like.

This is what it looks like:

I'll do this tutorial on ibispaint, but I'll explain how it works in pixlr e and photoshop as well at the end because it's pretty similar

I'll do this tutorial on ibispaint, but I'll explain how it works in pixlr e and photoshop as well at the end because it's pretty similar. I don't think it's possible to do in picsart sadly, so I really recommend any picsart users to download ibispaint.

Disclaimer: I did this tutorial on my iPad, because my phone literally doesn't work, so I'm sorry if this looks a bit different to how it does on a phone.

Step 1
Open your cover, or just a plain white document to start with if you're just practicing. Then click on the text tool.

Step 2Type whatever you like using whatever font you want

Step 5 (for ibispaint)
Go to filters, or 'fx' and go to style. Scroll along until you see the bevel option and adjust the settings how you like. You can see the settings I used down below.

And you're done! It should look something like this:

Now, the first two steps on pixlr e and photoshop are exactly the same. After this, in pixlr you need to go to the top of the window and select 'layers' and then click 'rasterize type.' Then go to filters and click bevel and you can play around with highlights and shadows, etc. In photoshop, it's exactly the same except you miss out the rasterize bit.

I hope this made sense and was helpful!
