Edgeworth woke up that morning not feeling the best. Instead of staying home and resting like he should, the stubborn workaholic prosecutor drags himself to the courthouse. It was his workaholic nature that got him in this position.

"Woah, Mr. Edgeworth...you look..." Gumshoe said.

"I look, what, Detective?" Edgeworth interrupted.

"N-nothing...nevermind." Gumshoe replied.

The prosecutor enters the courtroom and stands across from the defense attorney, his boyfriend, Phoenix Wright. The dark haired man stares at him with that same concerned look Gumshoe had given him.

"Good lord, do I really look that dreadful?" Edgeworth mumbled to himself.

He lets out a couple coughs into his elbow, which hurts his throat. The judge walks in and takes his seat.

"Are the defense and prosecution ready?" the judge asked.

"Yes, your honor, the defense is ready." Phoenix said, still looking at his boyfriend worriedly.

Edgeworth didn't answer right away, he was suddenly very cold though his brow was drenched in sweat, and his head began to pound.

"Prosecutor Edgeworth?" the judge asked, not knowing if the lawyer even heard him.

Straightening his posture, Edgeworth wipes at his sweaty forehead with his sleeve.

"The prosecution is ready...your honor." Edgeworth said, his voice painfully rough and hoarse.

"Alright, let the trial begin." the judge said, banging his gavel, the sound not helping Edgeworth's headache.

As the trial progressed, Edgeworth only got worse, he now had to lean against the desk in front of him to keep from falling. While Phoenix was cross examining the witness, Edgeworth's vision doubled and blurred, then suddenly everything went black. When he woke up, he was in the hospital and there was a throbbing pain in his left temple.

"Hey, Miles." Phoenix said caressing his cheek.

"Hmmmm...Phoenix, darling...I feel...quite ill." Edgeworth whimpered, leaning into his boyfriend's cool touch.

"Mhm, I bet, you fainted right in the middle of the trial." Phoenix replied brushing back Edgeworth's bangs.

"I...I didn't...*cough*...cause a scene, did I?" Edgeworth asked.

"No, not really." Phoenix assured him.

Reaching up to where the throbbing pain was coming from, Edgeworth felt a small bandage on his temple.

"Yeah, you took a nasty fall, hit your head on the desk on the way down. That's why you were taken to the hospital, to make sure you didn't have a concussion. Thankfully, all you have on your head is a bump and a little cut. As for your fever, which is what caused you to faint, that's pretty high still. So, once that gets below 102 degrees, I can take you home. And home is where you're gonna stay until you're better, got it?" Phoenix told him.

"Yes, darling." Edgeworth sighed, seeing no point in arguing.

Once his fever was low enough, Phoenix took Edgeworth to his apartment.

"Why are we here and not at my apartment?" Edgeworth asked.

"I just thought you'd be more comfortable here. I could take you to your apartment if you want." Phoenix said.

"No, this is fine." Edgeworth replied, not wanting to offend his boyfriend.

Phoenix helps his boyfriend inside, who is still a bit wobbly on his feet.

"Bed or couch, hun?" Phoenix asked.

"Couch for now." Edgeworth replied, knowing full well he won't be able to make it to the bed.

The defense attorney lays his boyfriend on the couch then gets him a pillow and blanket and tucks him in.

"Need anything else, honey?" Phoenix asked, crouching next to the couch and rubbing Edgeworth's head.

"I'm terribly thirsty, could you get me some water?" Edgeworth said, shivering underneath the blanket he had.

"Water coming right up." Phoenix said kissing Edgeworth's forehead.

After drinking some of the water Phoenix gave him, Edgeworth fell asleep. During his sleep, he had a terrible dream where him and Phoenix were trapped in an elevator and the air was getting thinner and thinner. But only Phoenix was affected by this, so Edgeworth held him in his arms, unable to do anything, as his boyfriend slowly suffocated to death.

"Miles? Miles....Miles! Miles, wake up!" Phoenix called out, shaking Edgeworth, who was crying in his sleep.

Waking up abruptly, Edgeworth shoots up into a sitting position, instantly getting dizzy and starts falling sideways off the couch. Phoenix manages to catch him and lay him back down.

"Phoenix!" Edgeworth cried, pulling his boyfriend down on top of him.

"Phoenix, darling, are you alright?" he asked holding onto Phoenix tightly.

"Miles, what are you talking about? Of course, I'm alright. You're the one that's sick, remember?" Phoenix replied, confused.

"B-but...th-the elevator...we were trapped...and there was no air, but you were the only one who couldn't breathe...y-you were suffocating to death in my arms, a-and there was nothing I could do to save you." Edgeworth wept into Phoenix's shoulder.

"Oh, Miles, honey, that was just a dream." Phoenix said soothing him.

"Come on, I'm taking you to the bed." he said getting off the couch.

Phoenix scoops up Edgeworth into his arms and carries him to the bedroom. Then he lays him on the bed, tucks him under the covers, and gives him medicine. Next, he climbs into the bed and holds Edgeworth in his arms and gently strokes his head.

"I love you, Phoenix, my darling." Edgeworth mumbled tiredly.

"I love you, too, Miles." Phoenix said kissing his head.

Then he kisses his lips, causing Edgeworth to grumble and turn his head away.

"Phoenix, you fool, I'll get you sick." Edgeworth told him.

"Ah, don't worry, hun, it was just one kiss." Phoenix chuckled.

"Just don't blame me if you fall ill, okay." Edgeworth yawned.

"Okay, I won't. But, you would take care of me, wouldn't you?" Phoenix said starting to get sleepy himself.

"Mhm." Edgeworth answered falling asleep.

The next morning, Edgeworth was feeling a lot better and the day after that he was completely healthy. The the day after that, Phoenix became sick.
