D-did she just..? That look in her eye..

You barely were able to mumble out, "Thank you." Before Kuvira popped open the wine bottle with ease, pouring a glass for both of you. She then sat down at the other end, and began eating while the meal was still warm.

"So, how was work?" You place a napkin in your lap, cutting your lasagna down to appropriate size. You always had a thing to table manners.

"It was fine." Kuvira grumbled. It cleary was not "fine".

"Kuvira." You place your fork down, looking into her eyes with a soft expression. "What happened?"

"Suyin is still up my ass. That fucking Avatar-"

"Korra." You interrupt.

"Whatever. She thinks that I've changed. Changed from what? It's been 4 years, y/n, four. Republic City is fine, and that Sato girl rebuilt it with shitty money. I was so close to having it all but I-" Kuvira noticed the look on your face. It wasn't happy, nor angry. It was a worried look.

"I'll be okay. I just need a break. Sometime to.. Blow off my steam."

You nod, watching Kuvira take quite a big sip of her wine. "You deserve a break. It's ridiculous they still treat you like that. You've already gained their respect.." You hand her the wine bottle.

"It's Suyin. It's always been her. She raised me like a Beifong, but I never felt like one. I wasn't even in the family photo.."

You didn't know what to say. Kuvira's childhood was always a difficult topic. "Well, I love you. More than anyone, or anything. Focus on me, and you won't have to worry. I'll never leave you."

A small smile appeared on Kuvira's face. She never smiled around anyone else but you. And that made you feel special.

The rest of dinner was spent in comfortable silence. Once you noticed Kuvira was done, you got up and took her plate to wash. You walked into the kitchen, humming to the song was was playing on the radio.

There Kuvira goes again, stalking you with her dangerous eyes. After a few minutes, she got up, standing closely behind you as you washed the dishes. Her gentle yet strong hands roamed free around your body.
