byungchan sighed as he passed by seungwoo's dead body yet again. he knew they had to move it since it was not a very appealing sight, but no one ever did. so the body was still in the living room.byungchan walked over to the kitchen to grab something to eat - but stopped when he heard chan's voice.
"no, of course it's not going well! half of them are dead! that's a terrible number!" he sounded very angry. "i have to do something bigger than this... but what?" byungchan froze as he continued to listen.
that conversation could have two meanings. chan was either calling someone about their situation because he wanted help, or he was calling someone because he was the murderer and he wasn't doing a good job.
byungchan wasn't sure what his next move should be. should he confront chan or simply just run away? but as he stood there hesitating, chan turned away from the window he had previously been facing.
"byungchan? what are you doing here?" he asked as he hung up the phone. "i could ask you the same thing" byungchan replied with a shaky voice. chan let out a sigh.
"it doesn't matter. it's not important," he said while slipping his phone back in his pocket. "did you want anything?" he added. "yeah, food" byungchan rolled his eyes. chan grinned. "oh, yeah, right"
byungchan walked over to the fridge and grabbed an apple, seeing as there really was nothing else he could eat that wasn't moldy. chan watched him from the kitchen table.
"where is sejun?" he asked. byungchan stopped his movements to send chan a suspicious glance. "why do you ask?" was the reply he gave. this time chan rolled his eyes. "because you two are a duo. you always hang out with him. duh."
byungchan held back the blush that tried to creep up his face. "oh, right. he's asleep in his room. i found him outside in the cold all shaking and stuff so i led him inside and tucked him in bed" he said, taking another bite from his apple.
chan just nodded. he was still eyeing byungchan closely. it made him uncomfortable, to say the least. "could you please stop watching me?" he asked when chan had been staring at him for a solid two minutes.
"oh, my apologies. i'll get going. see you!" chan quickly got up from the table and made his way upstairs, leaving a confused byungchan alone in the kitchen. but he just decided to shrug it off and continued to eat his apple.
but only a few minutes passed until the next interruption.
"oh byungchan! sorry for disturbing, i'll see myself out-" "it's alright, come here" in all honesty, byungchan was growing tired of subin's constant acts of innocence and seemingly forced kindness.
subin slowly walked over to the fridge and looked at the items inside. "ew, everything is moldy" he complained. "yeah, cry about it." byungchan wasn't sure where his bad mood came from, but he didn't realize that he was being cold until subin turned to him with sad puppy eyes.
"yeah, i just think i might" he said, wiping away a fake tear. byungchan chuckled. "you are so annoying" he said. subin grinned at that. "thanks, i try my hardest to accomplish that" he closed the fridge again.
"have you seen the others?" byungchan asked after a moment of silence. "no, not that i can think of. only you and chan in the hallway right before i came here" subin answered while also grabbing an apple.
"chan? where was he going?" byungchan asked. he was still a bit suspicious about him. "i don't know? he came from our rooms though. sejun's i think. he looked like he was in a hurry"
byungchan froze completely. what if chan actually was the murderer, and he had just killed sejun?!
byungchan stumbled off the chair he was sitting on and hurried over to the stairs. he heard subin's confused yelling behind him, but he ignored it. after all, subin was alive, sejun may not be.
byungchan almost tripped as he ran up the stairs. he heard subin's footsteps behind him as well. he was quick to get to the door to sejun's room and pick lock it.
he flung the door open - and let out the biggest sigh of relief. sejun was sitting up in his bed, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. he looked incredibly confused. and cute, with his hair standing up in different places.
"byungchan? subin? what's going on? is everything alright?" the sleepiness made sejun's words slurred. byungchan hadn't even noticed that subin was standing right behind him.
he walked over and gave sejun a big hug. "uh... care explaining what's going on?" subin asked, leaning on the door frame. "sorry, i overheard chan talking about something strange so i suspected him a little more than usual, and then i heard that he ran away from your room and i just... thought he might have... you know..." byungchan let out another sigh.
"i'm fine, i promise" sejun grinned before yawning. "do you know who put me to bed, by the way? whoever did, that was the best nights sleep i've had since we got here" he said as he began stretching his limbs.
"yeah, it was me," this time it was byungchan's turn to grin. he gave sejun's head a pat before standing up again. "glad to see you're alright though. i'll let you go back to sleep"
"but now i'm not tired anymore" sejun whined. byungchan laughed. "fine you big baby, join me and subin in the kitchen. we are serving a huge dinner" sejun's eyes widened at his words. "really?!"
"no dummy, the food is moldy. we only have some fruits and leftovers left" byungchan held back another sigh from escaping his mouth. "awh, damn it. by the way, i had the weirdest dream tonight"
as the trio walked over to the kitchen, sejun continued to talk about his dream. "and there was a whole CULT on the front yard! and they kept following me!" he said, shivering a little at the thought.
byungchan and subin just laughed. "and after they made me join them and had the ceremony and stuff i went home, and i was married to a man that looked like he could be my dad! and i had long blonde hair!"
that made the other two laugh even harder. "you? with long blonde hair?" byungchan was practically crying after laughing so hard.
"shut up i was terrified! it was a very scary dream okay!" sejun whined as he took a bite from the apple he previously had grabbed. "i'm sorry, i'll stop" byungchan said while wiping away the tears that had escaped his eyes.
him and subin eventually calmed down, and the room fell into an oddly comfortable silence. byungchan thought it would be awkward considering their 'situation', but they all just sat and ate and minded their own business.
the problem was, it felt too calm.
something was definitely off.
but the question they all asked themselves was, what?
