subin walked around the corridors, watching his every step. he peaked around the corners before he moved forward, being as careful as possible.he headed over to the kitchen, grabbing a glass from the cabinet. he glanced around the room before turning to the sink. he filled the glass up and took a sip.
"so it was you..."
subin felt a smile creep up on his face when he heard chan behind him. "so it was me" he replied, turning to chan, that grin slowly growing wider.
chan looked like he couldn't decide if he was absolutely crushed or extremely confused. "but... why?" chan's voice was not higher than a whisper. subin only shrugged as a response.
"that's it? you killed everyone for fun? why?! what's wrong with you?!" subin just watched as the tears began streaming down chan's cheeks. "i didn't kill anyone 'for fun'. this was everything but fun, you idiot," subin rolled his eyes. "i had to."
"had to? the fuck is that supposed to mean?! you had to fucking murder everyone in this house?! what the fuck is your problem?!" chan was yelling at this point. his eyes were red, but subin didn't know if it was from the tears or the aggressive yelling. he, of course, didn't blame chan for being angry. after all, he just killed people they basically call family.
"it's complicated" subin decided to reply. "and i have time. unless you are planning to murder me right now?" chan crossed his arms over his chest. it almost seemed like he was too angry to be scared. the grin that had been playing on subin's lips earlier returned.
"i'm just curious how you didn't realize it was me earlier? i mean, you caught me almost every time but shrugged it off because of... what? because i'm your little baby who wouldn't hurt a fly?" subin laughed at his own sentence.
"well you were acting weird as hell, we all probably had our suspicions on you. i just didn't want to make any assumptions incase i was wrong" chan rolled his eyes. subin held back a chuckle. "you assumed real hard that it was hanse though"
it looked like chan had to hold himself back from punching subin. "didn't you notice how all the kills were silent?" the younger asked, a kind smile plastered on his face. chan frowned, but no words were uttered from his side.
"not one kill involved a gun or anything loud. maybe it was mostly since you guys would have heard it, but it was also because i highly dislike loud noises, and you guys know that," the smile slowly turned into a smirk. "or actually, let me rephrase. not one kill has involved a gun. except now."
subin watched the horror in chan's face as he pulled the gun out from his pocket. "subin, you don't want to do this. i can help you! i can help you snap out of this bullshit!" the older of the two stumbled over his words. subin rolled his eyes.
"yeah, whatever," he aimed the gun at chan's head. "i think i will miss you the most. the others are lovely, yes, but you have always been more understanding. it's a pity i can't keep you alive"
chan sighed. "subin please-" "bye, chan."
and so, subin pulled the trigger.
the sound of the gun hitting the floor echoed in the quiet room. the thud from subin's body shortly after broke the silence once more.
the said boy was now sitting on his knees, staring blankly in front of himself. chan was dead. they were all dead. subin could feel the panic rising in his body. what was going on?
he could feel his eyes watering up. why was he crying? the word murderer echoed in his head. murderer. jung subin is a murderer.
he was a murderer. he had committed murder.
the tears were slowly dripping down subin's cheek as he glanced over at chan's body. chan's dead body.
subin was about to just let it out and sob when red and blue lights filled the room. the police had found him. but they were too late.
"step out of the building with your hands where we can see them!"
subin heard the voice clearly from outside. there was a helicopter hovering around in the air above the house. subin sighed, and dried his tears quickly. he was not about to walk outside.
but he was going to stand up. he could not look weak when the police broke inside. that would be embarrassing. subin grabbed the counter and got up on wobbly legs. why did he feel so unstable?
subin sucked in another breath when there was loud bangs on the door. he was unable to tell if someone was asking him to open up or if they were trying to break through the locked door.
he got his answer just seconds later. the entrance of the house was now filled with at least ten officers. they spread out around the house, but it only took them a few seconds to reach subin.
he heard them yelling different commands at him from all over the room. what were they saying? someone was asking him to put his hands up.
"where is the others in this building?" the officer right in front of subin asked. subin hesitated before realizing there was no point of lying. "they are all dead, sir" he answered.
more guns were now pointed at subin. no surprise. though everyone was yelling at him, subin also hesitated to put his hands up. they were currently resting in the pockets of his sweatpants, where he would like to keep them. the air was cold.
but he decided to just give in. but that was his fall. an officer must have misunderstood his action as grabbing something harmful from his pocket, and within a second, the sound of a gunshot echoed in the room. subin stumbled back in shock.
he had been shot. he was about to open his mouth and ask why, but instead he was met with more bullets. they never gave him a chance to explain himself before the room went dark for the last person alive on the island.
and so, there was no one left.
