The Call at The Dentist : Chp. 8

POV: Taro

Why did the teacher not let me go to the bathroom for the first twenty minutes of class?

BUZZ

Who could that be?

"Hello?" I ask.

"Good afternoon Mr. Yomada. This is Mrs. Saki from Doctor Saki's Dentists. I am calling you to let you know that you have an appointment scheduled for this afternoon for a clean-up." Answers Mrs. Saki.

"Oh, thank you for reminding me, I'll be there soon."

"Okay good-bye, for now, Mr. Yomada."

"Please just use Taro for me. Thank you."

"Of course."

She hung up on me. I was gonna ask if I could eat before it. I don't like the dentist. Or telling friends that I can't hang out even though I said I could. I will just have to tell him.

"Hi, Taro!"

"Hey, Heita."

"I want you to meet me at the tree behind the school on Friday."

"Why?"

"It's going to be a surprise! Now don't forget!"

"I won't. Don't worry."

Ding-Ding Ding Dong.

"Well, I gotta go now. I'll see you tomorrow Heita."

"Aww, okay. Imma get a drink from the water fountain first. Bye!"

"Bye Heita."

Huh? It's Aio. Oh, he walked off. I'll wait by the front gate to tell him and get his number so we can plan another meetup. He seems like a nice guy. Just by his voice, I can tell he is anxious. I feel bad for him. There he is!

"Hey, Aio!"

"H-hi Taro."

"I wanted to tell you that I sadly can't go over to your place today. I have a dentist appointment."

"Oh, okay."

"But, I'd like to get your number so we can talk more."

"S-sure its ***-***-****."

"Thanks, have a good rest of your day."

"Alright, bye Taro," I call.

Time to go pick up Toko. I hope she doesn't mind coming to the dentist with me. We could get dinner after. Since we have no food at home. I'd still have to stop at home to drop off our bikes and use the bus to get there.

"Hia Taro! How was your first day at your school? Mine was great!"

"I made a couple of friends. And Heita was obviously there since she convinced me to go to this school."

"Yay, you made more than one friend!"

"I have to go to the dentist and do you want to come with me? We might get dinner."

"Fine, I'll only come because we might get food," answers Toko with a sigh.

"Alright, let's drop off the bikes and hop on the bus."

I quickly brushed my teeth while my sister was putting away our bikes. I don't bother to change since I'm too lazy. I still feel bad for not hanging out with Aio, but I am sure he can understand. I look at my clock with toothpaste taste still in my mouth. Oh no, I'm gonna be late.
