The girl woke with a start, cobalt eyes bursting open like she had slept for centuries in peace. It felt as if they had, no doubt, slept long into the day, but the dim light peeking through the tiny slits in the makeshift straw windows showed that it was early in the morning. She was perfectly content with laying her head back down on Mando's steel-covered chest, but when she leaned her head back to feel him, all she could feel was the cloth and wool of a pillow on her neck.
She blinked once, then decided sleep wouldn't be as sweet as it was when he was at her side.
Finally, she heard a noise.
Her head snapped over to see Mando sitting on the edge of the bed, turned away from her with his helmet sitting at his side at the very corner of the bed. Cerelia found herself conflicted. Should she go back to sleep and pretend like she didn't see, or should she sit uncomfortably watching him without his permission?
She quickly snapped her eyes shut and pretended like she was stuck in a long dream.
"I know you're awake. You don't have to pretend you don't see me." Mando's smooth voice spoke. His voice was so much clearer without the helmet covering his mouth. She could listen to him talk for hours on end, but the Mandalorian wasn't much of a conversationist.
