CAMILLE

-----

“Jason Greene?” I asked.

“Yes, Milly. What are you doing here alone?” He asked. “Do you mind having a dance with me?” He winked at me.

“Umm…I’m actually here for a friend who’s drunk. I have to find her. I guess, I’ll go search for her.” I answered.

“Well, okay. I’ll help you.” I was about to deny his offer when he interrupted and said, “It’s my duty to save a damsel like you from distress, let me help.” He grinned at me.

I sighed and nodded. He didn’t look like he would take no for a answer. I showed him her picture and we both started searching for her together.

I finally found her passed out in one of the bathrooms. I tried waking her up but she didn’t even flinch. I texted Jason on the number we had exchanged that day and informed him that I had found her. He replied with an okay. I took Amara’s arm by my shoulder and led her towards my car. She was blabbering some incoherent words in her sleep.

Then, I saw Jason running towards us, he halted right in front of me.

“Is this the girl you were looking for?” He said, frowning as he studied her face.

“Alright, I’ll carry her for you.” He said, still frowning a little bit. I agreed and once we reached my car, I thanked him for his kindness. He just smiled and said, “Don’t forget about the date you promised me last time. I’ll text you later. Good night, Milly.” I wished him back and then left Amara at her house.

I couldn’t wait to go to my bed now. The day was so tiring. As soon as I reached home, I went towards my room. I saw that Lucas was already home.

After showering, I immediately went to the bed. A while later, I could hear my phone buzzing but I just ignored it and went back to sleep.

-----

I woke up a little early the next day and as it was a Sunday, I had a bit more time to sleep but I decided against it and got up anyway. Then I checked my phone and saw that it had a few missed calls from Cameron. That’s when I recalled that I was supposed to call him yesterday. I mentally slapped myself for that and instantly texted him a sorry and briefly summarised yesterday’s situation.

I brushed up and then got ready to go for a jog, wearing my grey hooded sports jacket and some black leggings.

After running for a few kilometres, I sat on a bench that was nearby and unplugged my earphones. I caught some breath for a while and then decided to head back home.

As soon as I reached home, the delicious smell of pancakes hit my nose. I went to the kitchen and saw Lucas making breakfast. I greeted him and he greeted me back with a lopsided smile.

“So, you went for a jog?” He asked, once we were seated on the dining table.

“Yeah. I did.” I replied to him casually.

“You’re in need of that anyway. You’re getting all puffy lately.” He snickered. I just rolled my eyes and gave him the fakest smile I could present.

Later, I went to my room and put on my glasses and continued the book that I had left off and got lost in its world.

My phone started buzzing a while later. I picked it up and answered.

“Hey babe, Are you free right now?” Amara exclaimed through the phone.

“Ahh, yes. I’m free. Do you want something” I asked.

“Alright then. I’m coming to pick you up in some 15 minutes. We’re going shopping today!” She replied.

“Amara, you were completely wasted last night. You must rest now.” I said to her.

“Nah, I’m full of energy right now and anyway I’ll get bored in the house. And, Selene’s coming too!” I sighed and agreed to her. It’s not like she was gonna listen to me anyway. So, I got up and then opened my cupboard, trying to decide which dress to wear.

-----

“Woah, what do you guys think about this one?” Amara said excitedly. For some reason she’s always so enthusiastic about shopping. “It’ll look good on you.” Selene expressed with a thumbs up and I nodded in agreement.

“I’ll try it out then.” She smiled as she went to one of the changing rooms. We both too picked out dresses for ourselves.

After shopping, we all agreed to go into a restaurant as we were starving. We chose a small table at the back and ordered our food.

Amara kept chattering, sitting across me and Selene as we all waited for our food to arrive. And my phone started ringing again. It was Jason calling.

“Milly! I’m free today so if you’re available, we can go on our date.” He said.

“Yes…I’m free tonight.” I replied quietly.

“So it’s fixed then! I’ll text you the time.” He stated.

“Can I bring a friend of mine with me?” I blurted and then chuckled awkwardly. He took a moment to answer and then replied, “Alright, I’ll ask a friend of mine to join us too.” After saying that he immediately cut the call.

“Who was that?” Amara questioned casually, raising one of her brow.

“Well, he had saved me last time in the bakery. So he suggested that we should hang out sometime.” I said, shrugging my shoulders. “Also, he helped me to find you last night.” I added.

The waitress came and served us the food. Amara nodded, putting a fry in her mouth, she replied, “Sounds like a big samaritan to me.”

I picked my chicken burger and asked, “So, can any one of you come with me tonight?”

“I’m sorry I can’t come with you babe. I’m kind of busy tonight.” Amara looked at me with a apologizing look. I nodded at her.

“So, can you come Selene?” I asked expectedly, bringing my attention to her. She sighed and nodded.

“I’ll be there.” Was her reply.

I smiled brightly and hugged her tightly from the side. She too grinned at me, her smile looking pretty as ever.
