Pennel Phelps
Like I explained earlier- Pennelope Phelps’ family was very rich…her father, was a famous surgeon, and her grandfather was a famous surgeon. Her mother was the CEO of a powerful pharmaceutical corporation, and her grandmother used to be a congresswoman for the state of Maryland, but since had retired. They had powerful ties with the government, and lobbyist factions who would pull strings for them, so that the rich kept getting richer. Pennel’s older brother, Jansen, was primed and ready to help their mother run the pharmaceutical company, while Pennel went to medical school to become a surgeon in the footsteps of her father, since it was obvious with her stubbornness and her grand standing, that she would not have a relationship with Riley Kessel. Her father had wanted her and Riley to date, but Pennel had a lot of spunk, and Riley was not capable of handling that. I guess her father had finally catered to her wishes of trying to ensnare me, because I was the only person who Pennel would slightly bend for. Don’t get me wrong- Riley Kessel was a man, but he was groomed to be an upstate gentleman, and was susceptible, to a more docile female…in other words, Pennel would have made him her bitch.
I remember after the “fight” with Dre in the hallway at school, going to the nurse’s office, and sitting there having to wait for the nurse to finish with some of the students who had to take their diabetes meds. Jassandra looked to me. “Are you sure?”
“I’ll be okay…just get to class,” I said.
“You know Imma kick your sister’s ass when I find her,” said Jassandra, leaving with her friend, Courtney. I kinda gave a silent laugh…I knew Meridian would never fight Jassandra in a million years, and Jassandra wouldn’t lay a hand on Meridian. My twin sister was too much of a lady, and a chicken shit, when it came to fighting. And she was deathly afraid of Jassandra after back in fifth grade, Jassandra beat up Lenry Bradford, for trying to force Meridian to be his girlfriend, and then, after Meridian refused- slapping her, and calling Jassandra a “nigger bitch”, when Jassandra came to Meridian’s aid. I was at home with a sprain ankle that I had gotten from playing spring league baseball…my Mom came in the house with the police, while I was resting my ankle on the sofa. She was fussing with the officer, while Jassandra, Kendryk, and Meridian sat on the other sofa. I looked to them. “What happened?”
Meridian looks up, and I see the redness under her eye…Jassandra’s hair looked all wild and shit. Finally, Kendryk spoke. “Lenry hit Meridian, and called ‘Sandra a bad name…and ‘Sandra beat him down,”
“You okay, Meridian?” I asked.
She started crying, and Mom came into the den room. She had an ice pack, putting on the red area under Meridian’s eye. “Why are you crying, Meridian?”
“Cause you are mad at Jassandra, and she didn’t do anything wrong,” sobbed Meridian. Mom laughed a little. “No honey, I’m not mad at Jassandra…Jassandra did good, by helping you out. I’m very glad Jassandra did what she did. That boy, was wrong- what he did to you, and what he said to her,”
At that moment, Jassandra looked up, to Mom with teary eyes. I guess she thought she was in trouble for sure…Mom hugged her as she cried. “Don’t cry Jassandra…I’m going to handle this,”
We had to tell Ms. Haddie…but Mom went to the school, when they were threatening to suspend Jassandra, and threw all her lawyer expertise in their faces. Jassandra was reduced to detention for one day, while Lenry was suspended for two days, plus Lenry’s mother couldn’t press charges, because Mom threatened to press charges on Lenry hitting Meridian, as well turning the whole episode into a hate crime incident, which would’ve not looked good on Lenry’s record. But also, since that day, Meridian herself didn’t fuck with Jassandra like she used to- because she remembered how bad Jassandra beat the shit out of Lenry…his swollen freckled face was swollen even more, he had lost teeth…he had to start taking meds for his stomach, because Jassandra punched him so hard, he started having digestive complications.
