As Misty and I were on our way to Viridian City for my final gym battle in Kanto, we stopped by Professor Oak's lab in Pallet Town and he told me that he wanted me to stop by after I won my 8th gym badge so he could give me something. So we headed back on our way to Viridian City and then we rested at the Pokemon center before going into the gym. Once I had battled all the trainers in the gym, I discovered to my utter shock the the leader of Team Rocket Giovanni was also the Viridian City gym leader. "Well, well, well, look who decided to challenge me to a gym battle, Jason, welcome to the Viridian City gym." Said Giovanni. Then I said in response, "Well now that I know that you're the gym leader, that gives me extra reason to want to beat you." Then Giovanni said, "Of course since I'm the leader of Team Rocket, if I win you need to hand over all your pokemon." "Enough talk, Venom let's go." I said. Then Giovanni said in response, "Nidoking, come out and use ice punch." "Venom, Dodge and use dig." Venom quickly dug into the ground but not before Giovanni's nidoking's ice punch grazed the tip of his tail doing a little bit of damage and came out did major damage to his nidoking. "Nidoking, use earthquake." Said Giovanni. His nidoking then jumped and made the ground shake up Venom hard but he barely held on. Then I said, "Venom, use fire blast." A giant blast of flames raced towards Giovanni's nidoking engulfing him in flames and knocking him out. "Giovanni's nidoking is unable to battle, Jason's nidoking wins." Said the referee. "Great job Venom." I said. After Venom's victory against Giovanni's nidoking, he then revealed that he had just learned earthquake himself. "I will say your nidoking is indeed very strong, but let's see how he fares against this, nidoqueen, go." Said Giovanni. "Venom, use earthquake." I called. Venom used every bit of his energy to shake the ground very hard, causing nidoqueen a lot of damage but she held on quite comfortably. Then Giovanni said, "Nidoqueen, use earthquake as well." The ground shook hard and because of the damage Venom took earlier, he was unable to take it and was finally taken down. "Nidoking is unable to battle, nidoqueen wins." After calling Venom back into his pokeball, I said, "Ferno, let's do this." Then Giovanni said, "Nidoqueen, use thunder punch." Nidoqueen raced towards Ferno and punched him hard but Ferno held on quite easily. "Ferno, use flamethrower." I called out. Ferno fired of an incredibly powerful flamethrower that consumed nidoqueen finally taking her down. "Nidoqueen is unable to battle, charizard is the winner." Said the referee. Suddenly Ferno revealed that he had just learned dragon claw. Then I said, "Great job Ferno." "Go dugtrio." Said Giovanni. Then I called out, "Ferno use dragon claw." Ferno then slashed hard at dugtrio and did modest damage but then Giovanni said in response, "Dugtrio, use stone edge." Dugtrio then caused big rocks to fly at Ferno which scored a direct hit taking him out. "No, Ferno!" I yelled. "Charizard is unable to battle, Dugtrio wins." Said the referee. After calling Ferno back into his pokeball and thanking him for his efforts a said, "Dodo, let's go." "Dugtrio, use stone edge again." Said Giovanni. Then I said in response, "Dodo, use tri attack." The two attacks collided with each other causing a big explosion that knocked out both of them. "Both dugtrio and dodrio are unable to battle." Then I turned back and noticed that Misty was noticeably worried about how close this battle was. "Go rhydon." Said Giovanni. I then said in response, "Let's do this Nessie." "Rhydon, use double edge." Said Giovanni. As rhydon charged at Nessie I called out, "Nessie, use surf." Nessie's surf easily stopped rhydon in it's tracks knocking it out but rhydon's momentum caused it to slide towards Nessie and crashed into her doing big damage but she held on quite comfortably. "Rhydon is unable to battle, lapras wins." Said the referee. "That's it, no more mr nice guy, golem go." Said Giovanni. Then I said, "Nessie, use surf." This time surf did major damage to golem but it just barely held on. "Golem, stone edge." Golem's stone edge scored a direct hit which took Nessie down. "Lapras is unable to battle, golem wins." Said the referee. "No, Nessie!" I yelled. "Alright, Giovanni, here is my trump card, Monkey-fu, go." "Golem, use double edge." Called Giovanni. Then I said in response, "Monkey-fu, use brick break." Monkey-fu and golem charged at each other and their attacks hit at the same time, Monkey-fu winced in pain, but then golem fell. "Golem is unable to battle, primeape wins, so victory to Jason." Announced the referee. "No, I lost to this fool again." Said Giovanni, shocked, after we had called our pokemon back. After composing himself, Giovanni came over to me and said, "Jason, as hard as it is to admit it, that was actually a very good battle, and now that I lost to you I'm going to disband team rocket and go off on my own journey to find a brand new path for my future." "Ok, yes it was a great battle and I did get worried for a while." I replied. Finally Giovanni said, "Jason, as proof of your victory at the Viridian City gym, I award you the earth badge, and now that you have 8 badges you can challenge the elite four at the pokemon league at the Indigo Plateau." After taking my final Kanto gym badge, Misty and I walked over to each other and hugged each other tight for what was probably about a minute during which she congratulated me for winning my final gym badge then we went to the pokemon center after noticing that it was getting late and went to bed for the night, then in the morning, we had breakfast and went back to Pallet Town where Professor Oak introduced me to mega evolution and gave me a charizardite x and a key stone. Then I said, "Wow, thanks Professor Oak." With Ferno's mega stone around his neck and the key stone and mega bracelet on my wrist, I then set out with Misty for the Indigo Plateau so I could challenge the elite four.
