Of course I would get stuck with the one person I didn't want, the only good thing about it is that I'm sure she is just about as thrilled about it as I am. Hopefully we can just stay out of eachothers way and this whole... wait how long are we stuck together, I begin frantically flipping through our welcome packet to find how permanent our room assignments are, because I don't think that I can last longer than a semester without one of us killing the other.
"Hey do you know how long our room assignments last?" I asked the group, not able to hide the worried look on my face. Everyone around me just shrugged.
"Not sure, why?" Nate asked, a little concerned.
"Because my bunkmate is Tara, and for some reason she hates me, anyone wanna trade?" I plead, looking between V and Lilly-Jean.
"Sure, I will, she's hot," Ajax eagerly commented, high-fiving Nate.
"Not funny guys, c'mon, I'm serious! I really need som-," I was abruptly cut off by Mrs. Aidan.
"There shall be no trading of bunkmates! These will be your bunkmates until you complete all the necessary coursework before you can enroll in tech course work," She said, using her annoying principal-y voice, "And after that you will be paired with someone going into the same tech selection as you."
We all nodded in understanding and waited until she left before we began conversing again, "Shall we head to our new room assignments, and get settled?" Asked Rafael, offering up his arm.
"Yeah I suppose," I replied, less than thrilled, "Is anyone else in B Block, with us?"
"We are," Ellie answered, motining between Jude, Lilly-Jean, and herself. I extend my arm to her, and they join our chain, while the rest of the group begins heading to A Block.
We start the walk down the hallway making small talk about who we were bunked with. Jude is rooming with Ryker, Lilly-Jean is rooming with Ellie, and Rafael is rooming with Owen. Shortly after I let my mind wander to the various situations that need dealing with.
I still can't get past the fact that Connor left me here, if we were such good friends, how could he just leave me here? When I first woke up I couldn't leave complete strangers, but Connor could leave someone he considered a sister, it doesn't make sense. I mean I guess he did leave me bread crumbs, but I still need to figure out what happened here. It has to be something morally atrocious, he did work in medical but I still need more information. I make a mental note to meet with the shark brothers again, also to ask them for paper and lighters.
"Hey do you guys remember anything from before, because the last thing I remember is saying goodbye to my parents and brothers," Jude wondered, breaking me out of my trance, "Does anyone even know why we are here?"
"I remember bits and pieces, but not a whole lot, it's just a side effect from the cryo pods for so long. I'm sure we will get our memories back before too long, plus Dr. Kent gave us a prescription to help with that too," Rafael answered as we neared B Block.
"Yeah same here," Ellie Chimed in, with nods of agreement from Lilly-Jean and I. Rafael and I shared a look wondering if we could trust him. He could be asking because he is genuinely concerned that he only has a few memories, or he could be a plant sussing out what we know from before. This whole not trusting anything sucks.
"How long do you think it will be before we get them back?" he further inquired.
"I'm sure it will be different for everyone, it just depends how the cryo pods affected our bodies, but i'll ask when i go in for my checkup with Dr. Kent," Lilly-Jean reassured Jude. We are finally nearing our hallway, and a pit of dread begins to form in my stomach. I just had to be assigned a room with Tara. Don't be so judgemental of her, you don't know her situation my inner conscience scolds me.
