It was Wednesday and the gloom of hump day was in full force. A beautiful October storm was raging outside-the sky lightning up as thunder boomed throughout the town, the sound reverberating off the high rise and echoing with a sound that made some uneasy. I love it actually. The rain. Thunder. Lightning. The whole package.
The storm had come out of nowhere this time, but that only intensified the melancholy most people felt as he rain pounded against the windows and roof. The whole thing lasted for just an hour and half, just ninety minutes. I sometimes wish it will rain for ninety days, but it stopped much to all pluviophile's dismay.
The rain stopped so I can step outside, maybe go for a stroll. It's been a week now. I reached the third house when I felt the emptiness creep in me because I knew I wasn't going to see her today either, I mean what's different from the other days? Right! It rained.
The birds sounded chirpier as if protesting the rain and all its accompaniment. The sky cleared, it wasn't dark anymore, the was a big puddle in front of Adwoa's house seeping into the drains. It looked like a river entering a cave with a big tree nearby with the -a girl-it did look like a human was under the tree and it had a bundle on it's head I'm guessing it to be hair, but the figure was slumped against the tree.
I didn't know when or how my legs carried me swiftly there but I was by her side in record time, she seemed deep in thought a bit from earth. Doing my best not to startle her I crunched my feet on the ground breaking a twig in the process, she jerked her head in my direction giving me a smile as she recognized me except for a fleet second I could swear I saw sadness in her eyes, scrutinizing her face i saw the smile didn't reach her eyes. Something was bothering her.
"Hi" she looked at me with another smile-this one reached her eyes as she continued to stare behind me.
So we were hi buddies after all. Ha!"Good afternoon" I replied "nice weather innit?
"Looked miserable to me" her eyes snapped back to me at the sound of my voice.
Hate.
