It was midday, you had planned on making it to the Captains Ship that was supposed to take you to the hunter exam, which you would then be supervised by Hisoka once you had approached the actual location where the exams took place. You didn't care as much as you would have even 2 years ago about Hisoka watching over you to ensure you wouldn't disobey Chrollo's orders, at this point you had become adapted to these precautionary standards, y/n pondered why Chrollo still doesn't trust her enough after 5 years.

Since Hisoka had failed to bring a hunters license to the troupe when he tried last year,
y/n had been sent to retrieve one and expected to be successful doing so. Hisoka was supposed to be coming with you on his own accord, his explanation that he condemned any further boredom and maybe trying for a hunters license another year might cease it. But you knew, you were much smarter than that, while Hisoka was most definitely bored, he had been coaxed into keeping a close eye on you in exchange to fight the 'boss'. However, you also understood that Chrollo had little intention to actually commence a fight with Hisoka, but Hisoka knew that too, he wasn't stupid also. Despite this, there was no chance of y/n escaping, she knew that. Of course she would tumble her brain like a tumbleweed in a flat landed desert, because no matter how hard you tried, no escape would bring you a good future afterwards.

Your best guess was that you could come up with, as to why Chrollo would send you out to retrieve a hunters license for the spiders, was perhaps that Chrollo desired to see how you would act in pressured situations that those exams put you in, what these exams would put everyone in. He didn't only send Hisoka to ensure a stunted escape, but also to have a supervisor to report back to him on how you did. How useful you truly are, in his judgment, was what he sought mainly for, not a hunters license, he wanted to know what you were like, how you responded-- how you moved, when he wasn't there, when most of the troupe wasn't there. Sure, a hunters license would prove beneficial, but that was not Chrollo's main goal.

While walking around in the downtown trading area of a small town outside of Yorknew City, you had noticed how positive the atmosphere was, maybe it had this same happy aura yesterday when you were striding through this area and just didn't pick up on it. Y/n swiftly grabbed an apple and made her way back to her designated spot where she had temporality lived for the entire week. A forest, a certain tree, it was an average height, ironically enough, climbing up the tallest tree seemed to tire her out. It was isolated from everyone, and you didn't have any money to pay for a hotel room, so that tree would have to do, and it did, it did just fine.

Today was the day, you recollected for about the 7th time today. Today was the day you where scheduled to board the captains boat, but that wasn't until about 5 in the afternoon, and you suspected that it was only about noon, so you had some time to just blow off. Y/n had felt groggy, you made the decision to just sit in your tree and do nothing. For a minute you stared above at the leaves shading you from Yorknew's blinding sunlight, for the next minutes you tried to balance yourself on a small, but sturdy branch.

Eventually you overcame the overwhelming density of laziness, just sitting up in that tree, and finally jumped down, climbing back down is too long and inefficient to you. Because of the intense training the troupe, specifically Chrollo and Feitan, had forced you through, you always kept absolute sure you were light on your feet, never making a sound... Stealthy.

After roaming about the forest for maybe half an hour, you came to the conclusion that maybe throwing knives would ease your boredom for the next few hours until you had to board the ship. You pulled out your little pocket knife and started throwing, you hit right where you wanted.
"Y/n, you just hit your first bulls-eye with your knife!! I'm so proud of how good of a fast learner you are!" You stood there, looking down at your wretched hands again, then she saw it, the blood from her mother when she found her mothers body that day, there was no bandages, just her mother's blood. "Y/n." And there she was. Your mother. Just.. standing there, her eyes hallowed out and the deep crevices where her iris should be bleeding instead. She was smiling. Why was she smiling towards you?? "Why didn't I save her?? She was still breathing, how come she died, and i'm still here. Why??"

Your trance broke and your mother was no longer there, neither was her blood on your un-stained hands. No blood, just bandages wrapped around them protectively. You looked at what position the sun was at, it was around 4 in the afternoon. You thought you should head off to the boat that would be docking in this diminished towns marina, and set off to take its boarded travelers on the way to the hunter exams.

You had set off, managing to arrive early, just before anyone else, as well. The boat had just arrived and you only had to wait just a couple of minutes to be allowed to board, Once you walked into the humble boat, you had found everyone's new sleeping quarters for the next two days. You took in everything of the room and observed it, boxes over by the back, hammocks in the corners, blankets laid out for the people who couldn't get on a hammock and had to sleep on the swaying floor. You then decided to lay in one of the hammocks in the the tiny room before anyone else could get to them before you. But, after all, you weren't the only one being picked up, there were still other stops to make, which meant you had plenty of time on your hands. Before you slowly drifted asleep, you spotted a tall, lanky man with spiked black hair, snoring behind those boxes you had spotted earlier. ("How the hell did I not even notice him until the moron started snoring?!) You saw him as no threat, he presumed none. It didn't matter anyway, you had been very tired, to tired to stay asleep to ensure that he wasn't a threat. So, you made the decision that you would wake up in just a couple of hours and start walking around to take in what the entire ship had to offer. You didn't want to miss anything..

A/n: hope you liked it!! Once again, I edited it a bit, leave a comment to give feedback if you want to! Thank you for supporting/reading. Have a good morning/night/afternoon ;).
