Chapter 3

Adam's POV

I stayed under my bed trying to imagine that I'm in a different place but it didn't work. My mind was focused on my mom's death.

"Adam?" I heard dad ask as he came in after me being in my room for over three hours.

I kept quiet and I scooted back towards the wall but I accidentally bumped a toy that started making noise. I quickly shut it off and I saw dad's feet at my bed. He got on his knees and he lifted the sheet that covered the bed.

"Hey bud," Dad said softly, "you've been under here for a while. Aren't you hungry?"

"No," I replied as my stomach twisted into a knot.

I saw dad reached his hand towards me and I crawled out from underneath my bed. Dad cupped my face in his hands.

"It's just us guys, Adam" he said with a weak smile on his face.

I nodded my head in agreement to dad's statement and I hugged my dad. I apologized for yelling at him. He forgave me and he let go of me as he stood up.

"Come on Adam. You need to get dressed for bed," dad said as he went to my closet.

He opened a drawer and he handed me my pajamas. I removed my shirt and dad started tickling me. I laughed and I playfully hit my dad.

"Please stop!" I said with my side hurting from laughing.

Dad stopped and I got my pajamas on. He picked me up and he was going to put me in my own bed but I held onto him for dear life.

"I want to sleep with you tonight," I exclaimed.

"Okay," he said, "let's go get your teeth brushed then we'll go to bed."

Then we went out of my bedroom and into the bathroom in dad's bedroom. I quickly brushed my teeth and I crawled into dad's bed. He got next to me after he turned the light off and I cuddle close to him and he pulled the covers near us.

"Dad?" I asked in a quiet voice after lying in bed for an hour.

"Hmm?" He replied sleepily.

"I'm glad you're my daddy," I said.

I felt dad hug me and he kissed my forehead.

"And I'm glad you're my son," Dad said, "now go to sleep please."

I got comfortable and I closed my eyes. I ended up falling asleep to a nightmare.
