While Annabeth was getting her brothers ready for school, Bobby puked all over the bathroom.

"I can still go to school Beth!" he argued.

Annabeth leaned against the doorway. "Yeah... no. You're not going anywhere today," she said with her arms crossed. "Puke it all up, then we'll get you a bath and you can go back to bed. I'll get you some bread and water."

Matthew went out to the bus and while Bobby was showering Annabeth cleaned up the bathroom. She got Bobby all dried off and in clean pyjamas.

"Do you think I can go back tomorrow?" he asked.

"If you stop throwing up and can do 30 burpees, then yes, you can go tomorrow."

Annabeth kissed his forehead and went to the living room to email all her teachers. Just because she had to stay home with her brother didn't mean she was going to fall behind.

Later that afternoon, Annabeth's phone rang.

"Hello?" she asked.

"Annabeth! It's Rachel, I wanted to check-in."

"Hi Rach, how's the Big Apple?"

Annabeth could practically see Rachel's eye roll. "The absolute worst. I hate it. I miss Far Water. This city is far too big." Rachel lowered her voice to a scandalized whisper. "Nobody says hi to anyone here, everyone is living in their own world."

Annabeth copied her tone. "That's how Big Cities work."

"Anyhoo, how's life over there. Is Percy still an ass?" There was a smile to her voice but Annabeth ignored it. Percy was just a dumb jock as far as Annabeth was concerned.

"Percy is definitely still an ass. God, he ordered the number one no-go drink at coffee shops. The one someone should be ashamed to order, but no, he stood there... confidently being an ass-noodle."

Rachel laughed over the phone. "Ass noodle? That's a new one."

"Percy is such a dick that he needed his own profanic term."

"That sounds like the Annabeth I know and love." Rachel teased. "Hey, tell me, how's the new girl?"

Annabeth laid on the couch. "She learns quick. She drools over the jocks a little less than you, she catches onto the gossip real fast. She's good at making coffees, not as good as you, but better than most baristas. She's sweet. Seems a little... chaotic, though."

"It could have been worse. One of those--as you put it--dumb jocks could have gotten the job." Someone shouted in the background of Rachel's call. "Sorry Annabeth, I have to go, bye." And then she hung up.

Annabeth wasn't 100% sure how she felt about Pidge. As long as she didn't try to be the new Rachel or a try-hard, she figured they might get along. More so if she could do her job efficiently.

That evening, Thalia came over and brought Jason. The boys loved him. Jason sat next to Bobby's bed and talked with him until he fell back asleep and then watched cartoons with Matthew.

Thalia insisted on making dinner by herself until Annabeth was caught up in all of her schoolwork.

"That's what we are here for, now go do your homework," Thalia said, flipping the quesadillas.

"I just don't want to burden you."

"Annabeth Maria Chase, you are not a burden. Now get out, you're distracting me from dinner," Thalia scolded.

Annabeth sighed and went to the living room to do her homework. She was really lucky, but sometimes she felt like she was too lucky.
