Percy pulled up in front of Annabeth's house to drop her off. Annabeth waiting a second in the passenger seat then quickly kissed Percy's cheek and got out of the car before he could say anything.
Thalia met her at the door again. "I saw that," she said with her arms crossed.
Annabeth leaned back against the closed door and innocently said, "Saw what?"
"You kissed him."
Annabeth tried not to smile. "So?"
"So... You like him," Thalia said.
"Maybe I do."
"I also heard about what happened outside of school today," she said, walking to the kitchen. "Let me see your arm."
"Thalia, its not a big deal."
Thalia turned around her eyebrow piercing went up as she raised her eyebrows. "Not a big deal? He threatened you outside of your school. Gossip spreads faster than wildfire in this town and I've heard what happened about twenty different ways but I know none of them are right, so tell me what happened."
Annabeth sighed and sat down at the island in the center of the kitchen. "He said that he would leave but he's taking his money with him. He knows I can't pay for the house or the phone bills so I'll end up on the streets and he can get custody of the boys because I won't be a suitable guardian."
"Beth, we are going to have to tell my parents, I'm sure they could help you get a better job or something. I'm sure they can help," Thalia said.
"They've already done so much for me, I don't want to be a burden," Annabeth said as she fiddled with the end of her long ponytail.
"Annabeth! You need to stop worrying about being a burden to everyone else!" Thalia scolded. "We are here to help you! You need some help, we aren't judging you, so knock it off."
"Yeah Annabeth," Jason said, walking into the kitchen. "Knock it off." He stared at Annabeth and Thalia. "What is she knocking off?"
"Being ridiculous," Thalia said. "And who invited you in here?"
"This is my house, numb-nut, I don't need an invitation."
"It wouldn't hurt you to curse every now and then ya know," Thalia snarked at her younger brother.
"I will not cuss," he said, scandalised.
"Fuckity, fuck, fuck," Thalia said.
Jason glared at her. "Don't cuss. Once you start you will never stop."
"Motherfucking fuckity fuck," Thalia said.
Her dad walked into the kitchen with a mug of coffee. "Thalia why are you swearing at your brother?" he asked, sitting next to Annabeth.
"Because he doesn't like it," she said simply.
"Okay," her dad said. "Annabeth, how was school?"
"Um..." Annabeth explained the situation with her dad.
"I can offer you a job in the family business, you won't have a lot of extra money, but you will be able to pay for a house and food," their dad said.
"Really?" Annabeth asked.
"Yeah," her dad said. "My secretary just quit anyway. Can you answer phones?"
Annabeth hugged Mr Grace. "Thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me."
"Of course, Annabeth. You're part of our family, you are more than qualified to work at my business."
