What you need to take away from this chapter is, have we made progress? Yes. Is it enough? No. We need to do a lot more before we can say we are all treated equally. America is a great country, but it has flaws. Big flaws and we know that we need to improve. Slavery, segregation, police brutality, it all happens to black people. When someone says,
"Racism is not a systematic country and whoever says it is is offending law enforcement".
To that I say this, you are so unaware of your privilege that you act like black people aren't targeted by the police. Like slavery wasn't a dehumanizing practice. Like segregation wasn't a violation of human rights. I don't want to be one of those people who make white people feel ashamed of their privilege. It's what you do with your privilege. If you help out, if you protest in whatever day, if you give a man a fishing rod, then good job. If you act like everything is fine and like your country isn't broken, then you need to wake up.
