Goliath and Angel

Chapter One

Angel Xanatos is five years old alone and was sitting in her seat on the train taking her to New York City thanking why was she despised by the ones who clam to love her 'Am I that hideous, Am I really that bad of a person, What have I done to deserve this....' she thought about this for a long while then she came to a conclusion 'I will never trust anyone again ever again' because she thought that if you don't get close to anyone then you can't get hurt and she would rather be alone then to be close to someone and get hurt. After several hours of being on the train she arrived at the New York City train station where her uncle David Xanatos was waiting for her to get off and when he saw her he was excited about seeing her in five years, but as she got off the train she looked all over for her uncle then she heard "Angel! Over here" so she walked over to him thinking 'He really wanted me but why I will not let him in no matter how bad he wants to be let in' "Hello uncle David" "Hey Angel how have you been?" "I have been better uncle David" that's when he noticed that she wasn't like her normal self because she always called him Tos it was her nickname for him like he called her Sunshine but he thought that once she gets used to living there with him for a while she will be just like her old self "How about we get something out to eat?" "Sure" as they got in the limo Angel thought 'He is nice and I want to trust him and she knew that he had good intentions but I am scared too scared to trust anyone any more' so they picked up asian food and went to her Uncle's home which is now her home.

~15 Years Later~

Angel was ready for the day when her Uncle David knocked "Angel!" "Come in" so he came in and smiled at her "Hey I have to go some where can we put our plans off for tomorrow I have a surprise for you but I don't want you to see it until tomorrow night?" Angel knew it was too good to be true he was always working and she have nothing to do but she shrugged "Sure I don't care" then she grabbed a few books and started to read so her uncle left for a couple of hours. Angel had just finished her book when she heard her uncles helicopter so she went to see what was going on and when she got outside she was now on top of a castle but not just any castle it was the Castle of Wyvern when she spotted her uncle "Uncle Xanatos!" he turned to see her standing there "You weren't supposed to see this until tomorrow" "What are you doing?" "Well since you know this much I will tell you the rest...I have found the gargoyles of legend in the magus's story and I thought that they could help you not feel like you Gargoyle in the world" Angel just rolled her eyes "Uncle Xanatos I am fine alone I am used to it actually I prefer it so please don't try to fix what isn't broken" then she went back inside even though she knew that he was still gonna try to fix her however she knows that he cares which is nice but she doesn't get her hopes up. She just wants to live her life in peacefully and drama free however when she was little she wanted to find love but after her mother was cruel and let her fathers best friend Gavin beat her she just want to be alone even if she was on her death bed. She was in the kitchen finishing up making her food when she heard her uncles helicopter again then she heard roaring so she turned around and went to go see what was going on as to see what made that sound but before she could make it back outside she heard foot steps so she followed it all the way to her uncle's office-living room type of room where the Grimorum Arcanorum was she was going to walk in there but her uncle spoke "I know this may come as a shock to you but a thousand years have passed since the Magus has cast his spell" she could see the shocked looks on their faces and she still didn't trust but because she doesn't trust does not mean that she is heartless she felt bad for them then she noticed the small green one asking "The eggs in the rookery?" "All gone I am afraid you are the last of your kind" "Why have you done all of this?" "Two reasons 1)For my niece Angel she is half human and half Gargoyle so I thought if you were real then maybe you could help her and 2)I was impressed by the Magus's story and too see if it was really true" Angel finally decided to make her presence known "Uncle Xanatos" they all turned to see a young women "Ah! Angel just in time I want you to meet..." David stopped as they all heard a helicopter 'What has he done now?' Angel thought "If you will excuse me it will be safer if you all stayed here" Angel raised her eye brows "I am not waiting for something bad to happen" she started to walk and then noticed that the gargoyles were following her when they made it to the door way "What's going on? Who are these people?" "They are attacking the Castle that's all we need to know!" but all of a sudden Angel whizzed passed them and began fighting and they followed suite fighting trying to protect the castle. As the fighting continued high above the streets of New York where no one could see them however they didn't realize that bits of the castle where they were fighting was falling off towards the ground which caused the people below to call the cops so they can find out what is going on up there and the detective that showed up was none other than Elisa Maza "Get back! Get back!" "Maza 23trd what's going on?" "Got me detective it must be one heck of a party up there...What do you think is going on up there?" "I don't know but I am going to find Elisa sighed then looked up to see more stone pieces from the castle up above fall towards her "GET BACK! (sigh) or you'll wined up street pizza" she then looked back at the stones that fell and noticed claw marks "Claw Marks?" then even more fell from all the fighting that was taking place and she thought 'What is strong enough to leave claw marks in solid stone?'. The thieves made it in to the castle and ran off with something that Angel couldn't tell what it was but she was not happy that they got away "Why were they here to steal from you?" she asked with her arms crossed "I have no idea" "If there was no reason then why you?" "Because the richer you are the more people want what you have and I am very rich" he said as he got out his phone "Owen we need a clean up crew outside" "I have never seen weapons like those before and What was that flying thing that carried them off?" asked the red gargoyle "A dragon no doubt" said the old one "It wasn't a dragon it was a machine of some sort" "Goliath I want to thank you and your clan with out you who what those thugs would have done" Angel knew that she at least owed them something "Yes thank all of you" "Someone I trusted once said the same thing and then attacked my people" "I see we'll have to work hard to gain your trust...Right Angel" "I just want to live my life drama free but I guess that won't be happening" "It's your decision lad but we have no where else to go" the old one stated Goliath sighed "This castle is our home no matter where it has been taken...We will stay here" "Excellent I know you have been treated poorly by men before but all of that is about to change trust me" "You broke the spell that imprisoned us and for that we are grateful but we will never trust humans again" he made sure that his point was made "I can tell this relationship is something we all have to work at" Goliath looked around and realized that he didn't know this century or this city so needed to be shown around "Angel show me around the city so that way I know what we are up against" Angel did not like being told what to do "Goliath" he turned "Let's get something straight I do not take orders from anyone and I am not part of your clan that you can boss around I am half human and half gargoyle and I will be treated as such and if you want my help you will ask politely just like everyone else" they were all shocked but then Goliath thought about how he sounded when he spoke "I apologize and will you please show me around the city" she smiled "Sure and that wasn't so hard was it" he kind of laughed as she walked towards the edge of the castle wall. Goliath was thinking 'I have never had someone or anyone talk to me like that she is a very brave female' "Angel can I ask you something?" "Of course" "Why does your Uncle want our help to fix you?" she sighed she hates talking about this but she thought that they might as well know "Well my mother didn't want me and so she sent me here after she let my father's best friend beat me so I don't trust so I don't get hurt it's better that way" Goliath watched her "I am sorry that you were so miss treated by the ones who were supposed to take care of you" she smiled "Well how about we make a deal" Goliath smiled "Alright" "I will join your clan to learn more about my gargoyle side of me and try to trust more if you promise to try and trust as well sound fair" "You make good deals but yes we have a deal" "So when do you" Angel stopped in her tracks when they heard voices "I assume that you have permits for the gun fire I heard going off up here" so they took a look and Angel was relived because she knew Elisa "I will be right back Goliath" he nodded so Angel made her way towards her uncle and Maza "Hey Maza!" they turned and looked at her "Hey Angel I see you been doing well" "Of course and what about you Elisa?" as they stood and talked "So Angel what really happened here tonight?" Angel looked at her Uncle "Some guys attacked and we fought them off" but Elisa knew that Angel would tell her what really happened later "Excuse me Mr. Xanatos but there seems to be a problem in the kitchen with our new house guests" "I hope I have answered all of your questions satisfactorily detective if you will excuse me Owen will show you out" "If you will come with me" then Angel noticed that Elisa saw one of the gargoyles on the castle wall move but Owen heard Elisa stop so he turned "Is there a problem detective?" "That stone gargoyle I could have sworn that I saw it move" "Yes the old castle is a little spooky at night I thought that I saw the same thing several times myself" then Angel walked with Elisa and Owen to the elevator but Angel gave Elisa's arm a squeeze before she got in to let her know to meet her later but Elisa has other plains. As Angel joined back up with Goliath ready to ask when he wanted to go on a tour of the city but saw that the blue dog gargoyle was sniffing around and then started to walk away so Goliath followed and that caused Angel to follow "I wonder what he is picking up on?" Angel stated. Then Angel smelled it it was Elisa's perfume "Goliath I was wondering if you would like to meet Elisa Maza someone...the only person I have ever trusted since I left my mothers?" but just as Goliath went to answer her he walked around her so she followed and saw that he took Elisa's gun from him "Wait!" Angel yelled then sighed "Goliath this is Elisa Maza and Elisa Maza this is Goliath the leader of the Gargoyles" Angel introduced them "Elisa you can't just sneak around here remember what happened the last time you did I almost hurt you because I didn't know that it was you" "I know but my boss said I had to investigate thoroughly so that is what I am doing" "What is a detective?" asked Goliath so Elisa explained what she did and as they were talking the trio and the old one came back outside from the kitchen "What a fine mess you three made of that kitchen when I heard that crash I thought..." "Look Goliath is talking to that human" so they made their way up to where Goliath, Angel, and Elisa stood "So a thousand years ago you all were betrayed by the only person you trusted...Does any one else know about you?" "Just a man named Xanatos and Angel here" then all of a sudden the trio showed up "Is this a new friend Goliath?" the red one asked "This is Elisa Maza a detective" "Second class NYPD" "What exactly does a detective do lass" asked the old gargoyle "Well when someone does something wrong I find out who and arrest them" "Who says what's wrong?" "We have a justice system laws, penalties, assessments that the people decide" "You mean the humans decide" then Angel noticed that the sun was coming up and knew that Goliath probably didn't want Elisa to see that they turned to stone but Goliath beat her to it "You have to go now" "Wait will see you I want to know more about you, Look you saved my life so I owe you let me help you understand this city you need to know how it works" "It was like Angel said when we were talking if we are to protect this castle we need to be prepared for whatever is out there" "Very well" "Good tomorrow is my day off I'll meet in the afternoon...." "After dark" "Why am I not surprised ok here after dark" "No not here over there on that roof top" "why there?" "Why were you sneaking around the castle?" "A good detective trusts no one" "That is one thing we have in common" Elisa then leaves as Angel looked at Goliath "Do you want me to tag along?" she asked but before he could answer Owen called out to him "Goliath" so he followed Owen who took him to David Xanatos "It's almost dawn me and my friends have to sleep soon" "This won't take long, I am asking for your help Goliath the people who attacked us stole something very important from me the box they took had several of these hard disks in it" "Disks?" "Think of them as magic talismans each one containing hundreds of spells its important that you and your friends get them back for me" "Maybe you should use a detective" "You're learning fast but I can't go to the police I already had to for stall an investigation because of the fight and just think of the trouble it would cause if they found out about you and your friends you could be locked up for study or even worse remember you are the only Gargoyles left people will fear you" "And betray us (sigh) What would you have us do" "My sources have tracked that the people who attacked were hired by a multi-million dollar corporation called cyber botics" Xanatos then turns on the tv "Amazing! It's like a living tapestry" "Your naive mind is refreshing Goliath, the disks are being held at three different locations one a research center on a small island in the bay, one in a deep secluded heavily fortified base and the last one is in an air fortress heavily guarded all three must be hit simultaneously so no one can alert the others it seems like and absurd amount of protection I know but the information is very important I assure you" "Why do you want us to help you?" "This must be done before their scientist's unlock the encryption codes before they unlock the spells" "This is much different then protecting the castle it will endanger the lives of my charges I can not risk that" "Think about my request Goliath because if they get to read the spells they would use it for great evil" Goliath left as Xanatos smiled a crooked smile as he looked behind him to a door opening "Don't worry everything is going according to plain". Angel and the others were sitting there when Goliath walked back to them "Hey Goliath so what did my uncle want?" "He want's me and the clan to go get the disks that were stolen from him but I am not sure if it is worth the risk" "We should help Xanatos after all he did help brake the spell we were under" said the big blueish greenish gargoyle (sigh) as he thought Angel then walked up to Goliath "Look at the end of the day it's your decision Goliath you are the leader they will follow with what ever you say" Goliath turned and smiled at her "You are right but I am just not sure and now it is time for me and my friends to sleep" "See you tonight?" Angel asked "Yes see you tonight" then he ans the others turned to stone and she stood there thinking 'I wonder if trusting them is the right thing to do but they are really nice and I haven't meet really nice since I meet Elisa I guess I can keep a guard up in case anything happens but we will see'.
