Chapter 013

Lesley reminisces the moments she had with her family. She dared to hope that despite of the cruel world in the Land of Dawn, they are still out there. Safe and sound.

But she doesn't know where to start and make sense of the things that she feels about their sudden disappearance. Her warring sadness and frustration. She wanted to run and find them but none of her plans matters. They're gone and Gusion doesn't seem to be letting her go.

She looks around inside her brother's temporary room in Gusion's cabin. She smiled longingly. The room was tidy. Though her brother seems mischievous, cleanliness is his thing. The book he reads is organized and his study table is neat.

Lesley walks over near his table. Harley's crayons are all used up and the drawings he made were attached to the wall. There's one particular doodle that caught her emerald eyes. It was stick figures but she's definitely sure it was her and Harley in which he was handing over his cards.

Her trembling hands pulled out the drawing and secretly put it in her pocket. 'There's definitely something in this.'

"Lesley."

Gusion's voice pulls her over from her deep thoughts and she turns to look at him. Concern mars his features and Lesley tried her best to give him a reassuring smile.

"Let me take you home." He says as he hugs her closer to his side.

So many thoughts clouded Lesley's mind as they walk back to the car. Johnson opens the door and she climbed inside.

"Are you okay?" Gusion asked as he pulled her closer again.

"I'm okay." The lie slips in her lips and she turned her gaze to stare outside the window feeling numb as the car drives off.

When they arrived at the house, Lesley pretended to be tired but deep inside she is dying to look at her purse and find the cards that Harley gave her. Lesley let Gusion swept out of the room and took her to bed because she knew she had to go.

He was silent and looked distracted as well during the drive home. As Gusion laid her down, she snuggled against the cover and closed her eyes. Gusion kept the lights off and after a moment, she heard the quiet sound of the door shutting behind him.

Lesley waited for another thirty minutes bidding her time. When she heard voices outside. She climbed out of the bed and as quietly as she could, she went to the window and saw Gusion gets inside his car as it took off.

She hurriedly sprints to the dresser and grab her purse the other day. Lesley's heart is racing and her palms are sweating, afraid of the information the cards might carry.

The air was cool as Gusion exited his expensive car and made his way inside the secret entrance of Venom's Tavern, the one that gives him direct access to the sub-ground semi battlefield level. Where legendaries gambling and battling was set up.

The room was smoky and crowded as he walks through the haze, nodding to his men as they greeted him. For a moment, Gusion thinks to join the battlefield to release his anger. He feels full of rage and in need of release.
