Chapter 018

The sound of metal scraping on something woke Lesley up. She instantly sat up and pushed herself towards the wall. Her instinct to fight takes root.

Johnson stepped inside. Follow behind by three men. The three look like giants around her moving like a robot. Black coats and staring ahead.

"Why are you doing this?" Lesley asked. Her voice trembling.

His steel eyes flickered to her and she felt singed from even the short contact.

Johnson's jaw hardened before pulling out his armor and began to clean it with his shirt as Lesley's body froze. "This has gone long enough. Gusion was supposed to be dead already. But then that fucking selfish bastard brought you along with him."

"What do you mean?" Lesley asked. Confused and frustrated.

He looked back at her and the corner of his mouth lifted but it didn't form a smile. It sent fear through her instead.

"No matter what he said. This war was real. But I don't want to be any part of it. I just want him to suffer. He's been overpowered since then. And now he got you too. I'm afraid Land of Dawn will be in his hands forever." The hatred in his eyes brought another shiver in her spine.

"He trusted you, Johnson. And you betrayed him. What did he ever do to you?" Lesley asked hurting.

His hands stopped its movement and tilted his head to the side, still cleaning his shield. Then a wall came over his face and he was unreadable. "It's just my current boss pays much more than him."

Lesley sucked in her breath. "Y-you can't take him down."

"I can't. But crippling to his organization and kidnapping his one and only weakness would be enough for me. Gusion as the leader will break down soon." He said.

"Boss." One of the men behind him said.

At that moment, the metal door opened and Lesley's heart pounded wildly against her ribs. But the person who walked in had everything inside of her freezing.
