For Burning_Charcoal
darling, dearest, dead.
I hope you enjoy~

(Y/n)'s life was filled with unfortunate events. For starters she was the daughter of Count Olaf. (Y/n) never knew her mother for she had left them when (Y/n) was very young. (Y/n)'s mother was very young herself and she was too poor to fight for the custody of her baby girl. (Y/n) was very understanding of why her mother had left, her father was a vile man. Hell he didn't even treat her like a daughter. Everyday the Count would give (Y/n) an unbelievably extensive list of terrible chores to complete by the end of the day. Once (Y/n) had fallen asleep due to being morbidly exhausted.
When Count came home from being out with his troupe, to find that the bathroom still needed cleaning, he had given (Y/n) a scolding and sent her to bed without supper.
Very recently there had been news that a mysterious fire had burned down the Baudelaire mansion. Count Olaf had offered to take care of the Baudelaire children.
~
The next afternoon the doorbell rang, creepily echoing throughout the house.
You made your way down the stairs as your father ran up the stairs.
"Entrood"
he shouted from up the stairs his voice echoed slightly.
You sighed as you sat on the bottom of the staircase, your chin resting on your hand.
He was so over dramatic.
The door opened as a man with three children, (two girls and one boy ) walked in.
"Well, hello, hello, hello. I am your beloved Count Olaf."
your father dramatically said from atop the stairs.
"And welcome to my lovely home."
Yeah so, 'lovely' you thought to yourself as you got up while, he descended the staircase.
"May you find solace within the womb like warmth of it's...downey plume."
"Or as the Greeks in the ancient times would say ' Orphanis...Encribo...
Something,Something,
Something."
he descends the last few steps.
"🎶 Music builds to a crescendo ending on the right foot and strike a Fosse!🎶"
The Count says in a sing song voice.
"Not exactly what I was going for, but you get the idea."
He takes a good look at the orphans for a sec then, continues.
"Oh...My dear..."
he looks at his hands for a sec, looking at the doodles of the kids he drew with their names and turns to the Oldest girl.
"Violet...Enchanté"
he tells Violet stretching out his hand to her.
"Uh...how do you do?"
she says hesitantly stretching out her hand and giving his a quick shake before pulling it back as, he turns his attention to the only boy.
"And this must be Klaus. Young...Klaus."
Count Olaf holds Klaus's face turning his head from side to side.
"Your left side is the good one"
He turns his attention to the youngest Baudelaire.
"What is this?"
"I'm Sunny"
Sunny says in baby language.
"I'm sorry, I don't speak monkey"
The Count retorts not understanding Sunny.
"Banana"
"I'm not a monkey"
Sunny retorts in baby language.
"Sunny's our sister"
Violet said glumly.
"I must say you're a gloomy-looking bunch."
"Why so glum?"
"Our parents just died"
Klaus answered through gritted teeth.
"Oh, yes how very very awful"
"What a schmuck!!"
Sunny answers with a giggle, causing (Y/n) to chuckle. The children turn to her and she looks away slightly embarrassed.
Count sighs then claps his hands.
"Mr.Poe I will raise these orphans as if they were actually wanted."
"Where should I sign for the fortu...I mean the children?"
"Oh, you won't officially have guardianship until the hearing on Thursday morning."
"What am I supposed to do with them until then?"
"Excuse me?"
"What I mean is...Do you workout? You look good. Healthy, I mean"
" Right, I need to get back to the bank.Children if you ever need..."
"No, we're all fine thank you"
Count Olaf cuts Poe off as he slams the door in his face.
Count Olaf makes his way over to the staircase.
"(Y/n)!!!"
"Yes, father"
(Y/n) mumbled from next to him.
"Oh, there you are"
he said looking down at her.
"Baudelaires my daughter (y/n), (y/n) the Baudelaires"
"Okay now that we've had a proper introduction, you four are to prepare dinner for me and my troupe, who will be here shortly"
"My troupe and I"
(Y/n) mumbled sarcastically.
"What was that?"
"Y-yes father"
"Great! have it ready by 8 o'clock"
"But, it's 7:30"
"8 o'clock !"
(Y/n) sighed and led the Baudelaires to the kitchen where they looked for things to make dinner.
Violet found pasta in a drawer, Sunny found a can of tomato sauce, and (Y/n) and Klaus found a few other ingredients laying around.
"Pasta Puttanesca, that's Italian for 'very few ingredients' you know"
Klaus commented trying to make small talk.
"That's great"
Violet answered her brother blandly. Klaus handed her a can and Violet handed it to Sunny, who opened it using her teeth.
"Ok, we're going to need a pot"
"No pot"
"And a strainer"
"No strainer"
"What about this?"
(Y/n) said handing Klaus a window screen.
"Strainer, that's brilliant. Thanks (Y/n)"
"Yeah"
(Y/n) replied.
"Do you know where there's a saucepan,
(y/n) ?"
Violet asked.
"Not sure, I'll find one"
(Y/n) stated as she went rummaging through the kitchen looking for a saucepan.
"Sunny how's that pot coming along?"
Violet asks.
Sunny brings something to the three older children.
"Oh, Sunny"
(Y/n) chuckles.
"That's not a pot it's a spittoon"
Klaus adds.
"A spittoon? You mean like...we'll wash it twice"
Violet says.
After a while, the pasta was cooked and the children managed to find a saucepan by then, it was around 7:49.
Everyone set the table as quick as possible it was around 8:00 as they set the last plate down. The four children shared a triumphant look.
Violet cleared her throat
"Dinner is served"
Count got up and made his way to the table.
"Puttanesca"
"What did you call me ?"
"It's pasta, pasta puttanesca"
Klaus said seeming confused.
"Where's the roast beef?"
"Roast beef?"
"Beef, yes roast beef it's the Swedish term for beef that is roasted"
"But, father you didn't tell us you wanted roast beef"
(Y/n) retorted as, Count's troupe gasped.
"Are you talking back to me?"
Count inched closer to your face making you back up.
"N-n-no father"
(Y/n) said the words barley coming out, (Y/n) flinched as Count Olaf raised his hand.
"Leave her alone"
Klaus said sternly.
The Count chuckled maliciously as he made his way over to the Baudelaires.
"You know there's a big world out there, filled with desperate orphans who would gladly swim across an ocean of thumbtacks; just to be eclipsed by the long shadow that is cast by my accomplishments.
But I don't care about them. I chose to open my heart to you two loverly children and your hideous primate. All I ask in return is that you do each and every thing that pops into my head while, I enjoy the enormous fortune that your parents left behind."
"No"
replied Klaus.
"Why you litt- ow!"
Count screamed out in pain due to Sunny biting him. Count then proceeded to mock Sunny.
"Father stop it !"
"Oh, it's time you children learned a little respect!"
Count ignores (Y/n) and picks Sunny up making her cry.
"Father!!"
"You put her down!"
Klaus snaps at Count Olaf.
Count turns around and slaps Klaus across the face; Klaus falls due to the impact.
"Klaus!"
(Y/n) goes over to help him up as Violet gets Sunny back from Count Olaf.
"You all saw it the boy slipped"
"You won't get a cent until Violet turns eighteen"
"Oh really, says who?"
"The law look it up"
Klaus retorts.

A few months had passed since the Baudelaires had arrived and life for the four children was unbearable.
The one thing that kept all of them going was each other. Klaus had started to gain feelings for (Y/n) and vise versa.
The two teens were oblivious though. Violet and Sunny knew what was going on and tried their best to get them to confess to each other but, both teens were to stubborn to do so.
One unfortunate day
Mr.Poe had made the mistake of telling Count Olaf that, he can't inherit the Baudelaire fortune if something were to happen to the children. Unless of course, with the exception of blood relatives or married couples. This had given the Count an idea for a new 'play' which he had called the 'Marvelous Marriage'.
So, now here you were with the two older Baudelaire children talking about what was happening.
"What is he up to? Why are we in the play?"
Violet asks dressed up in a white wedding dress her face caked with fancy makeup.
"He's using this as a prop"
Klaus answers, holding up a book titled 'Inheritance Law'.
"It says that if two people are married, they're entitled to any money that the either of them has."
"No, but it's just a play. He can't get our fortune by marrying me in a play"
Violet says.
"I beg to differ"
(Y/n) whispered.
"Oh...can't I ?"
Everyone shifts their gaze towards Count Olaf.
"Conspirators. 'Caesar must die. Caesar must die. Caesar must die.'"
"In order to be a valid marriage, it has to be administered by a bona fide justice of the peace. It says so right here."
Klaus retorted pointing at the book in his hands.
"Justice Strauss, are you ready for your debut?"
"No"
(Y/n) mumbled as Justice Strauss walked up to them looking as happy as ever.
"Oh, Violet you look so beautiful. You are the bride I'm the judge. Who's the groom?"
Justice Strauss rambled.
"No, Justice Strauss, you don't understand the play is real"
Violet tried to explain the situation but failed.
"Yes! yes. It must be real. That's why I cast you. All the other actors I saw lacked the proper— what's the word I'm looking for?"
"Hair? Hands?"
the hook-handed man asked.
"Verisimilitude. Now let us be Justice Strauss"
Justice Strauss leaves and once again the children are alone with Count Olaf.
"You can't do that !"
(Y/n) retorted.
"I can, I did"
Olaf laughs.
"I'm not going to marry you. Ever"
Violet retaliated.
"You will once you look up there"
Count Olaf said whlist pointing up.
The three children look up to see Sunny in a cage hanging from the tower.
"Let her go!"
"I will if you agree to marry me"
"Fine, just don't hurt her"
"Violet!"
Klaus and (Y/n) turn towards Violet.
"Splendid!"
Count Olaf celebrates as he leaves.
"What do we do now?"
Klaus asked.
"Nothing"
Violet mumbled.
"But Violet"
"No Klaus, there's nothing we can do"
"There's always something"
(Y/n) commented.
"Not this time"
"Yes, yes there is"
"What?"
Klaus and Violet perked up.
"What could that possibly be (Y/n)?"
Violet asks.
"I'll go get Sunny, you and Klaus stop the wedding"
(Y/n) says before heading to Sunny's aid.
(Y/n) makes her way to the outside of the tower.
"(Y/n)!"
Sunny exclaims in a shrieking manner.
"Hold on Sunny, I'm coming"
You tell her.
"(Y/n)"
You turn to the source of the voice.
"Klaus? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with Violet?"
"Yeah, I'll be with her in a second. She told me that I should tell you something before it's too late"
"Tell me what?"
"I-I- that I-uh-I"
"You what?"
you asked.
Klaus opened his mouth to say something but, closed it again and before you knew it you felt a pair of soft, warm lips on yours. After a few seconds of getting over the shock you kissed back. A few seconds passed and you two broke the kiss.
"(Y/n) I like- no love you."
"Klaus I love you too"
"I'm going to go get Violet now, Good luck"
"You too"

The children had succeeded. Sunny was safely back in Violet's arms, (Y/n) and Klaus stood by Violet. Count Olaf had been arrested and they savored their victory. As the four children were put in the back of Mr.Poe's car; it was unclear what lay ahead for them. But they knew that if they could get through a series of unfortunate events, they could tackle anything as long as they had each other. And for this reason I am happy to say, that the Baudelaire siblings and (Y/n)
were very fortunate indeed.
