People feared the inevitable. The drastic changes of the winds that could ruin their being. They feared not the shadows but those that lurks within.

So when the Fae sprung from tears of Callum; the heavens (or so the legends were told) humanity have done everything they could to stay away. Despite of the unnatural glow, elegance and beauty they carried; people saw them as an abomination-a lie of life from The Lady.

And the Faes had to face the people's wrath and jealousy for immortality. Who knew it will be the root of the Prime War of Old that began thousands of years ago?

And if things at the time were already bad as it is, then came the dark ages where Norlmeir Beasts-the Rythans arrived on the shores.

The massacre, bloodshed and wails of agony wasted the lives of many. And probably the reason why no one has heard from Faes ever since. They disappeared. Just like that.

And yet, they're popping babies on humans and leaving the offsprings to fend for themselves. But what can I say?

The more prettier it is, the more deadlier.

And that's how we, the Halflings came to be. The lie of life that stood in between. With no birth right. No mother and father to present.

Nothing to call home-except my brother Raegan. "Duke Nowel..."

He wore a mask of gentleness to hide the fierceness in his eyes that I haven't noticed before. Though scrawny and somewhat physically weak, he managed to radiate a certain surge of power oozing out of his skin. It was only then that I've noticed that he was faintly glowing.

"Such a fine evening this is, isn't it Miss Caoimhe?," he said with a malicious grin. It sent shivers down my spine.

A cracking sound latched at my ears and then suddenly, the wooden roof above us vanished. The cold winds of the night came rushing in, slightly brushing against my cheeks. Lifting my eyes, my mouth gaped open, blood drained from my face.

Above were a pair of pale crescent moons shining like silvery claws. The curves of their edges leaning against one another in the vast blank sky. As if they only have themselves against the world.

Hindi nga ako namamalikmata. Tunay ngang kambal ang mga buwan ngayong gabi. At isa lang ang ibig sabihin nito.

"The Dusk," I whispered, my lips barely quivering. The familiar song suddenly went strumming in my memories.
