Chapter dedicated to: amare_smeraldo for loving Raegan

A man wearing a suit of plate armor isn't going to be as nimble as a man with leather. Another one of Raegan's spilled wits.
In my case, a girl wearing a ridiculously short dress can easily out-balance a weary guard of heavy armor. Thirty-six down, more to go. I counted them in my head.
My brother can be an ass sometimes but I gotta admit, Raegan Volteir knows what he's doing.
Lights flickered as we passed through the empty hallways. The absence of any life forms was assuring and yet nerve-wracking at the same time.
Do they always go to bed early around here? Or is it because finally, The Lady decided to help in my time of need?
A hand tugged my arm, pulling me behind a pillar as patroling guards rounded the palace garden.
I must weigh like a feather. Seeing how Phelan effortlessly caught me in his arms as we exited my windowsill and landed on the ground floor.
The guards drew closer; armors rattling, footsteps heavy and yet, clueless of a scheme we are playing. I wanted to laugh so badly and scream my presence: I am here! Thankfully, I'm not stupid.
The footsteps continued onto the west section, their figures started to blur as they disappeared from my sight. And we moved on.
My blades still lay beside my hips, waiting to be unleashed. If we do this my way, a trail of blood would've followed us by now.
"We will keep it low. Fast and invisible. As much as possible I want no blood to be spilled tonight." Phelan reminded me for the fifth time I nearly pushed him out of the window.
"Why'd you brought explosives then? Is that your way of keeping it low?."
"It's just a back-up plan. Just in case."
"Just in case what?."
He turned to me, deadly serious. "In case we get caught and they decided to take our heads instead of putting us in prison. We will all die or we will all live."
I glanced at Phelan. Sweat trickled down his forehead, eyes flickering on alert at any sound he heard.
Scared people can do scary things you could never imagine. I swallowed hard, keeping up with his pace.
For the first time in two years since I've met him, I agreed with that plan. The scarlet tower cast long shadows on the ground, the moon shone just above it; locking the target in place.
The stone bridge should be the entrance but it was heavily guarded. So we'll climb up. The boy said, much to my annoyance.
Tall trees were scattered around the plains, giving us enough cover as we leaped one tree after another. This is one of those times I wished I had magic.
How cool would it be to slip through concrete walls and get Raegan out before anyone finds out he's gone? I pursed my lips at the silly wish.
My back and legs started to ache but I didn't stop as I leaped on another tree. Phelan wasn't far behind.
The illusion of the distance grew thin as we drew closer. I broke into a grin. The tower was impassively small and old, brick walls and a wooden roof. It shouldn't be that hard to scale I suppose.
"The prisoner is such a pain in the ass. He kept beating every guard that would bring him a meal."
Napahinto ako. The wind grew colder, leaves rustled when two silhouettes materialize at a distance below.

Fantasy"Let me tell you about Faes. They're real. They have lived in Norlmeir for a long, long time and only The Lady knows where they went during the Prime War. But they didn't go too far; they couldn't. Why? It's because of us. The Halflings-the half-br...
