(Y/N) POV
It was around midday when Ketsueki and I arrived at the home of Jigoro Kuwajima. Climbing down the mountain towards us was a strange person was wearing the standard demon slayer uniform along with a black head covering and a black and white mask covering their face.

When they got up to us they stopped running and Ketsueki visibly stiffened and said,

"Saisho Ketsueki, former blood pillar."

I was shocked by her cold tone towards the person in front of us.

'I've never heard her talk to someone like that!'

While the person in front of us shrunk slightly and looked towards me before jolting back, recognizing that I was a demon.

At this reaction, my head hung slightly lower and my mouth, which was once a straight line, sunk into a frown. I felt a hand ruffle my hair causing me to look up,

"This is my student, (Y/N) (L/N)-Tsugikuni, yes she is a girl cursed with the abilities of a demon," Ketsueki's aura and scent darkened with malicious intent, "and I suggest you treat her as you would a pillar, or else."

The person quickly nodded and fell into a deep bow,

"H-hai, Ketsueki-sama!"

The person ran past them as far away from Ketsueki's malicious intent as possible. I cocked my head in question,

"Who was that?"

Ketsueki clicked her tongue at the question before answering,

"That was a kakushi. They're a cleanup crew that clean up the mess after the demon slayer's fights. I dislike them since they mostly treat lower ranked demon slayers like scum and pillars like gods," Ketsueki began to continue walking up to the mountain, "Hence why I told them to treat you like a pillar."

I stared at my sensei with admiration before quickly following behind her.

'Did she think I was so important that I needed to be treated like a pillar?'

You are that important child.

At this point, I had adjusted to hearing the strange man's voice in her head.  He had assisted me occasionally during my training. When I focus on my ability to sense auras I can sometimes sense his figure near me.  I had attempted to ask him questions about himself but he always refused to answer, he answered one though.

His name.

Well, not exactly his name, but a nickname. One his wife gave him.

'I still don't get what could be so good about a good for nothing demon like me, Chi.'

Chi didn't answer.

"Your not a demon (Y/N)."

I looked up at Ketsueki-san and shot her a questioning look, had she read my mind?

"I know that look on your face, where you question if your worthy of human life due to your blood,"  she turned her head fully to me, "but listen well (Y/N).  You did not get to decide to become a demon, that blood was forced upon you."

I could practically see her amber eyes smiling at me through her mask,

"You are a child cursed with a demon's blood."

I smiled at her.  Her aura had always been comforting to me.  She turned back to the direction we were heading in and continued walking.

It hadn't taken us long to get to the porch of the house where the former hashira lived, but it was still nerve-racking.
