Chapter 1

Eyes,

Mother sometimes said they were windows to the soul,

Her eyes were a beautiful (E/C),

I had the same,

But that changed due to that man,

If he could even be considered a man.

(Y/N) POV
December 28th, 1912 Taisho Period
5:48 am

Cold.

That's all I feel right now.

Trekking down the mountain is not very easy, especially when the sun hasn't risen.  The basket of firewood on my back makes it even harder.

Crunch

I spun around to face what was behind me, "Hey (Y/N)!" I let out a small chuckle.

"Geez, Tanjiro you scared me."

"Heh Sorry (Y/N), I should have given you some type of warning," Tanjiro said while scratching his nape sheepishly, "I was just happy to see you!"

I only smiled. Tanjiro was my best friend he has always been there for since we met.  He knew about my father's behavior, my mother's disappearance, and my beloved little sister Delilah.

Speaking of my father he frowned at the sight of the new bruise on my cheek and the small bit of blood seeping out of my nose, he brought his gloved hand up to my cheek and poked at the bruise, I winced at the contact.  He let out a worried sigh,

"We are going back to my house to get that treated."

"What! Tanjiro you know my Father he'll get ma-"

"I'm not taking no for an answer, come on"

He grabbed my wrist and started pulling me up the mountain to his house.

It took us about an hour to get to his house. It was a rather nice house, how it fits 7 people I shall never know, when we got there we saw Kie, Tanjiro's mother, sweeping on one of the upper floors.  She must've heard the crunching of our shoes cause she turned her head and waved.  While Tanjiro greeted her while waving, I just gave her a nervous wave.

"Nii-Chan! (Y/N)!"

We both turned our heads to the voices calling to us.  We saw a young girl with shoulder-length black hair and her brother's red eyes, Hanako, and a young boy with black hair shaved as a buzzcut with once again his brother's red eyes, Shigeru.  They quickly ran up to us and tightly gripped our waists.

"Hello, you two!"

"Hello Hanako, Shigeru!'

We both greeted the two young children.  Hanako then turned to Tanjiro,

"I thought you were going to town today!" She said with crossed arms and a silly pout on her face, I chuckled at her expression while Tanjiro replied,

"I am its just (Y/N) got hurt so I am going to help her patch her injury."

The children's eyes dashed to me with concern, while my eyes dashed to Tanjiro with an 'I can't believe you've done this' look.

"(Y/N)!"

"Are you okay?"

"What happened!"

"Do you need anything?"
