Chapter 2: The New Boy

Y/N POV

While waiting around for time to catch up with me, I got an opportunity to talk to some of the people and got some very different opinions on not just magic, but also the students of the school.

Since this was the town that housed the famous tor that the booklet talked about, there were students coming through here the whole time.

Most people just see it all as outdated and think that anyone associated with it must be as well.

That seemed slightly unfair but also plausible at the same time.

I'm pretty much the same.

But my opinion is now obviously subject to change.

Y/N: Hmmm better get moving.

Looking at my watch it was around half past two. I still had time but as Mum always said it's better to be early.

And maybe there will be someone there waiting for me already.

Following the map provided I made my way up to the Leyline tor at a slowish pace.

I could hear chatter behind me, but instead of turning around I just kept on walking.

Finally getting to the top, there was no one there.

However, looking behind me three girls had managed to catch up to me.

They must have been the ones who were talking behind me.

Girl 1: Hey are you the boy that will be attending Luna Nova this year?

I nod my head as a response.

Girl 1: See I told you two! What else could he have been walking up here for?

They all turn to me.

The girl that spoke to me introduced herself.

Avery: Well since you're gonna be at Luna Nova, we better do names! I'm Avery and you are?

Y/N: Y-Y/N.

There I go. My lack of social skills on full display!

Avery: Y/N huh? That's a nice name!

Y/N: Th-thanks.

The other two girls then speak up.

First, was the girl on the right of Avery.

Hannah: My name is Hannah England! It's nice to meet you Y/N!

I nod my head at her and turn to the girl on the left.

Barbara: I'm Barbara Parker! It's a pleasure to meet you!

Y/N: N-nice to meet you three.

They all smile at me as I smile back.

It was nice to interact with a few people before I properly got to the school.

Hannah: So Y/N. How much do you know about magic?

Y/N: I uhhhhh. You have to use a wand?

I look at the trio quizzically and hear them giggle.

Barbara: Hehe. I mean you're not wrong.

Hannah: So you don't know too much?

I shake my head.

Avery: Do you know how to get to Luna Nova?

I nod my head.

Y/N: Don't you go through a thing called a Leyline? And don't you need a broom?

The three nod their heads.
