NAME: DELILAH

(LOWERCASE INTENDED)

•JACKSON•

my hands were sweaty and i was so nervous.

i was gonna confess and ask my best friend of 17 years to be my girlfriend.

i was driving to her apartment already to pick her up. we were gonna hang out at a park to have a picnic for her birthday.

her parents were divorced at the age of 5 and that's the last time she ever saw her biological father. he lied to her. he told her they were gonna hang out along with her brother yet he left them waiting outside in the cold until midnight.

i pulled up at her apartment complex and got out of the car.

i walked into the building and went up to the front desk.

the lady saw me and immediately reach over for the spare key to delilahs room.

"thank you"

she nodded and continued on her talk with her assistant.

i took the elevator to the 5th floor and walked out.

i turned the corner to where her door was. it was the last door in the hall.

i hesitated to knock.

"do it kid" someone said from behind me.

i looked back and saw a man smoking a cigarette on the bench that was out there.

"she's a keeper. she really is."

"yeah i know. i'm her best friend since forever basically." i explained.

"i know. she told me everything. she told me about you. she told me about her family. she tells me everything"

"oh.." i said.

"well what are you waiting for, go in!"

i jumped and unlocked the door.

"tell me how it goes" he said as i went inside. i nodded and waved.

i closed the door and made my way to her room.

the bright light of her vanity shined through the room as it was the only given source of light in the room.

i found her asleep on her couch with the stitch plushie, which said her name, that i gave her.

lady, there's a whole bed across the room i-

i crouched down to her level.

i touched her back and she shifted slightly.

i propped my head up on my hand. my elbow was on my knee.

shes angelic.

i moved the hair away from her face.

"only if you knew how much i loved you"

i soon woke her up because it was getting late.

"hey" i softly said and i carefully shook her.
