The turbulent trip had to be a sign. It had to be, because when they landed, rain drizzled over the ground. Zodiac stared out the window of Hanta’s car, watching as someone in a trench coat gunned down some poor, unfortunate soul. A few people roamed around with their clear umbrellas and dark clothing, some going into dingy apartments. This side of town was depressing, but the government made no move to fix it. The SUV zoomed past an old, seemingly tattered building that Shouto recognised all too quickly. He nearly got whiplash with how fast he turned his head away from the scene. Hanta pulled up at their rental house, a large, roomy place with room for all of them. As soon as he got in his room, Shouto passed out on the bed, letting sleep comfort him in his time of distress.

A long past memory pushed itself towards the front of his mind as he slept, transporting him to a time when he was allowed outside. He was seated on the house’s large lanai, dangling his feet in the pond below him. Through the willow tree in the front yard, he could observe the families walking by, some stopping to take pictures. He could see children around his age skipping by,  and he silently wondered if his own father would hold his hand one day as he skipped down the sunny street. Of course, this was a pipe dream, as younger Shoto would soon find out. His father only cared about him if he was good enough to be a model and make money for the family. But for now, he stood in the shade of that willow tree, pale hands extending towards a sun that he would never truly reach. The dream shifted as soon as one of the rays hit his skin. He was suddenly in a burning room, and all of his siblings were with him. ‘Not for long’ he realized, all too late. By the time he and Touya got out, Natsuo and Fuyumi would be reduced to nothing but ashes.

He woke up in a cold sweat, huffing wildly as the soft glow of the moon illuminated the room. His eyes frantically darted around the room before resting on his boyfriends. Carefully creeping out of the sheets, Shoto walked towards the window, staring at the full moon solemnly. The pale, yet thieving beauty of it reminded him of this mother, her white, silky hair being easily comparable to the beauty of an astral figure. When he looked down, he saw Zodiac sitting Indian Style on his balcony, looking down at the few cars going down quiet streets. She looked up, her eyes full of large tears. “We need to talk”.

Hello everyone. I apologize for the short chapter and such a long hiatus without telling you all. I have been swamped in schoolwork in a rich to finish before the year ends. Needless to say, I promise to have a long chapter out before Christmas Day. Thank you.
