Luke was sitting in a chair outside of the assistant principles office. He was literally praying that Mr. Pokes wouldn't call his mom about this, she would literally drown him. He felt his pocket buzz and pulled out his phone. He had gotten a text from Ellie.
"Haha lol... so what's up?" the text read.
Luke replied with just a plain nothing much, he didn't feel like talking about the fact that he was sitting in the school office waiting for his punishment. He inhaled deeply and let his breath out.
"You may now enter Mr. Wheeler." Mr. Pokes said trough a slightly opened door.
Luke slowly stood up and walked into the room. He sat in the chair closest to the wall in front if Mr. Pokes desk. The knot in Luke's stomach was back and he felt as if he had to puke.
"Do you know why you're here?" Mr. Pokes asked.
"I think, but I'm sure you'll tell me anyways." Luke answered.
"Well, when you were in the hall, I heard you say a inappropriate word Mr. Wheeler."
"Yeah, sorry about that, I had just fallen down the stairs and I was kind off shaken up."
"We don't appreciate profanity like that in our school Luke."
"Yes sir."
"I'm not going to call home about this, but you are going to be on cafeteria cleaning duty for the next two days."
Luke sighed with relief.
"Thank you, Mr. Pokes."
"You're very much welcome."
And with that, Mr Pokes stood up from his chair and led Luke outside of his office.
"Have a good day." Mr. Pokes said to Luke.
"You too!"
Luke walked out if the office and into the hallway. He knew it was about the time for lunch, so he made his way back up to his home room. His phone vibrated again and he pulled it out of his pocket to check who it was from. Ellie had told him that she was at lunch eating some chow (puppy chow)
and goldfish."I'm like, fr jealous rn." he texted back.
As he approached his home room, his stomach grumbled as he thought of food. He was glad Beju had brought him the orange juice because he was craving some like crazy. He walked into the classroom and saw everybody getting ready for lunch.
"Where have you been?" Mr. Budwiser asked had Luke was pulling his lunch out of his backpack.
"Um, I was in the office." Luke answered.
"Were you in trouble?" Bethany asked.
"No, I was recognized for how good I am." Luke answered sarcastically.
"Bull snot!" Samuel yelled. "We all know how bad you are at everything."
The whole class laughed at Samuel's comment, even Mr. Budwiser cracked a slight smile.
"Hehe, very funny." Luke said as he was zipping up his backpack.
"Do you have an admin for then?" Mr. Budwiser asked Luke.
"No, Mr. Pokes just sent me back to class."
"Alright, but next time I want an admin Luke." Mr. Budwiser said sternly.
"Yes sir." Luke answered.
The class lined up and walked town to the cafeteria. Luke sat down at his usual table with Carli, Beju, Rachelle, Beatrice, and Chad.
"So why were you in the office?" Carli asked Luke.
"It's a funny story." Luke chuckled.
"Tell us!" Beatrice yelled.
"Alright, alright jeez." Luke paused before he spoke again. "I trip and fell down the stairs. The fall made me scuff my shoes, and I said a bad word."
"Is that it?" Chad asked.
"Yup" replied Luke.
"So, did you get I'm trouble?" asked Beju.
"He let me off with a warning, but I have to help clean the cafeteria for two days."
"Lucky, once I said the f-word in front of him and he called my mom and have me detention." Rachelle said rolling her eyes.
"That's exactly what I was thinking! My parents would have killed me if Mr. Pokes had called home."
Luke took a sip of his orange juice and screwed the cap back on to save it for later. He took out his brownie and ate the whole thing in three bites.
"Dang, hungry much?" Chad laughed.
"You don't even know." Luke said, secretly wishing he had some chow instead.
