Time Reverse

Longer than Expected

Dumbledore, Newt, and Tina approached the spinning wheel. Lilac held her breath, but when they touched it, nothing happened. The wheel sat there. It must've been enchanted later on. Dumbledore turned to Lilac.

"And this was the room you and your brother found?"

Lilac nodded "I remember, because I know we had scooch past a bunch of house elves and touch that brick."

Dumbledore crossed his arms and leaned against the wall "Well, I guess we could enchant the wheel, but that could take time, seeing as Jane here needs to get back to 2022." the three Scamander's stood in silence; Lilac slightly behind Newt and Tina as not to feel awkward. Dumbledore looked at Lilac "But, there is someone who could do it in a day."

Newt let out a small gasp "But, Theseus isn't here. He went off..."

Dumbledore chuckled "Yes, I know. He wrote to me, saying he had a feeling there was going to be something he was needed for, so he gave you permission to go find him."

Newt groaned quietly. Lilac looked at Dumbledore "Can he really enchant the wheel in one day?" she asked, a little excited. She'd never met Theseus before. He'd gone insane from a mission that went wrong before she was born, then died after throwing himself from a window after a bad hallucination when she was three days old.

Dumbledore smiled "What makes you so happy from that, Jane?"

Lilac shrugged her shoulders to hide her blushing "I dunno."

Dumbledore pointed his wand at her "Legilimens."

Lilac was pushed to the wall as Dumbledore looked into her thoughts and memories. When she opened her eyes, she guessed must've hated seeing these, because she was looking through her fingers. Dumbledore was standing in front of her, a look of sympathy in his eyes.

Lilac stood up and walked away from the room. She was so lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice that Nagini had slipped out behind her. She was halfway through the kitchens by the time she felt a hand grab her shoulder.

"Are you alright?" Nagini asked. Her voice was sweet and gentle.

Lilac smiled "Yeah. I'm alright. Just processing everything, that's all."

A house elf walked over to them with a couple pastries. Nagini took it from him gently and said "Thank you." but Lilac turned it down.

The house elf walked away. Nagini looked at Lilac as she pulled out a handkerchief and wrapped the pastry in it "You don't eat sugar or something?"

"No. I love sugar, but I'm allergic to raspberries." she pointed to Nagini's handkerchief "When he offered it to me, I could smell it was a raspberry tart."

Nagini smiled, but then tilted her head "How did you know he was male just from looking at him?"

Lilac smiled and laughed "Just something my family likes to teach us. There's a lot of ways to know. But, I learned best from watching them walk." Lilac pointed one house elf carrying a platter of chicken to a table "That one's female. You can tell because she's kind of waddling..." she pointed out the house elf who had the raspberry tarts "...and that one's easy to tell he's male. His feet are hitting the ground heel first and his legs walk in a wide stance."

Nagini looked at Lilac "Wow, Jane. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you a smaller version of Mr. Scamander."

Lilac rubbed the back of her neck, sheepishly and turned beetroot "My family tells me that a lot."

Nagini smiled and walked away. Lilac watched as Newt and Tina came around the corner "So, Dumbledore said that you have a connection with my family."

Lilac hugged herself sheepishly "Is that all he said?" her voice waivered as she spoke.

Newt looked down her "He refused to tell me how."

Lilac let out the breath that she didn't know she'd been holding "Well, anyway! Let's get going!"

Lilac was out of the kitchen and down the hall before anyone caught up with her. She stopped at the end of the hall 'Dumbledore could've given me away! But he didn't?' Lilac jumped half a mile when she turned around and came face to face with her great grandfather.

"If we want to get to Theseus, we have to leave now." he said.

Lilac followed him and Tina outside. Dumbledore called after her "Good luck, Jane!"

Nagini smiled "I hope you make it back...home?"

Lilac smiled and looked on. When they reached the middle of the Hogwarts Viaduct, they joined hands and disapparated.

When they reappeared, Lilac looked around, very confused. She'd travelled a lot with her family, but none of this looked familiar. She supposed it was because she was in 1928 and not 2022, even then, everywhere they travelled had some kind old-fashioned building. These buildings looked nothing like anything she's seen.

She had to suddenly run, because Newt and Tina had walked off. Newt looked at Lilac "Jane, we're in Russia."

Lilac understood the snow crunching under her feet and why she felt extremely cold. But, she still didn't understand why Theseus would've been in Russia. The three of them walked into a  small bar with dim lanterns lighting the walls. Newt walked up to a man at a table.

"Theseus?" he asked.

The man looked at Newt and smiled "I knew my feeling was correct. So-" he pulled Newt into a hug "-what are you here for, brother?"

Newt hugged his brother back "Theseus, we have a bit of a time travel problem and need to get Jane back to her timeline."

Lilac looked at Theseus "We need you to enchanted an object that can take me home, to 2022."

Theseus looked at Lilac "That's a long journey from this time period."

"But, you can do it, can't you?" Lilac asked, a little nervous.

Theseus chuckled and held out his hand "Certainly. Where do we begin?"
