America! Come on, you're going to be late!" Mom yelled from the kitchen.

I groaned as I rolled out of bed. Work is fine but I just want my Maxon. A 5's work is hard. I put on some jeans and an olive t-shirt. I put on the tiniest bit of makeup before I ran downstairs and almost directly into May.

"Watch it Ames!"

"Sorry May" I say as I give her a hug. I turn and head towards the kitchen letting the smell of eggs and toast lead me. Mom looks at me over her shoulder as she puts some eggs on a plate.

"Don't forget that you're babysitting the Schreave's later." I sighed and nodded as I shoveled eggs into my mouth. I went to my room, grabbed my old, beat up, leather messenger bag with my sheet music inside. I sprinted out of the house towards the Schreave house on the edge of the town square. I nearly bumped into Maxon coming out of the door.

"Sorry Maxon."

He smiled and held my face in his hand.

"You never have to be sorry for anything my dear."

I gave him my best fake pout.

"Im not your dear Maxon."

He smirks before he kisses my cheek and heads past me towards his clients for the day. I smile and let myself into his house and immediately get bombarded by the 3 younger Schreave kids. Lucas, Adeline and Anne.

"America! America!"

I giggle and set my bag down as I give them a hug.

"Hey guys. Lucas, I think you grew a foot since I was here last."

He blushes and smiles at the floor.

"No I didn't!"

I smile and look at the girls.

"Okay guys, what do you want to do today?"

We decide on walking around the town until Maxon finishes his clients and surprise him when he's done. I make sure there are snacks in every backpack along with water. Adeline and Anne are speaking quietly to each other while Lucas stays by my side. I do a double take and see that they have tears in their eyes, threatening to spill. I look at Lucas and gesture for him to hold up for a second. I turn and kneel in front of the girls.

"Whats wrong you guys?"

Adeline looks at me and tears roll down her rosy cheeks and says,

 "This guy at school. I've known him for years and liked him for a couple. But he's been really rude lately and I don't like him anymore and I....I kinda miss him. I miss the old him," She looked beyond comforting. I was about to say something as she burst into a sob.

"And he's going on a 3,000 mile road trip tomorrow!"

I held her and rubbed her back,

"Its gonna be okay." I gestured for Anne to take Lucas's hand while I held Adeline's. I called Maxon who picked up right away.

"Is something wrong?"

I chuckled and told him what happened. He said he would be right home.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~TIME SKIP 20 MIN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maxon met us at the door and scooped up Adeline.
"You okay cookie?" She shakes her head. I look at him and mouthed; Bed maybe? Boy troubles.
He grimaced; Okay
I put Lucas to bed while Anne got in on her own. They looked so cute. I went into the living room to see Maxon pouring over his camera, looking at his pictures of the day. I sat next to him and let my head rest on his shoulder. He put the camera down and leaned back on the couch and rubbed my head.
"I feel bad for Addy, I know the kids older brother." He mumbled.
I looked up at him nodding. I reached up and gave him a kiss. I looked at the clock, 10:00??
"I gotta go Maxon!"
"Its okay love." He kisses my head before I run out the door and into the night. 10 minutes later I can see my white front door, and my mom in the living room window. Oh no. Im toast.
"America Rose Singer! Get your butt in this house now!" She shouts.
I gulp and jog the remaining yards to the door. I walk over the threshold and past my mother.
"America, love. Why were you out so late?" I looked up. She didn't look mad anymore, just upset that I didn't tell her I would be out later.
"We got back later than we thought we would and I had to help Addy get through something," I said looking at the floor, "I'm sorry."
She wrapped me in a hug and told me to go to bed. I slept for an hour before I woke up and tip-toed to the tree house in the backyard. I saw a dark figure move inside and smiled before I climbed the old rope ladder and heard my favorite voice,
"Right on time my dear."
