Life doesn't give you any satisfaction. It takes it away from you. You have to strive for any success.
Well it took away all my hope today. At the moment, I sit on a Capitol train with my head in my hands. Today I just got reaped.
That's not the problem. I've been waiting for this day my entire life. The problem is my district partner.
Glimmer. She got reaped at well. Me and Glimmer are going into a game where you fight to the death. I can't kill her.
Okay, well, she does hate me. She thinks I am that cocky man whore of the district. And well, she isn't wrong. But we used to be good friends, until I messed up pretty bad. She's hated me since that moment, for some reason. I like to think it's because she had feelings for me, but it was probably because she was like fifteen and we were in her bed. Its not my fault I...
That's not needed to be mentioned.
"Marvel! Well arrive in the Capitol in 45 minutes! Go get ready for your appearance!" A strong, shrilly Capitol accent announces. Just from the voice I can tell its Lola, District One's escort. She looked like a unicorn threw up on her. Everything clashes. Don't judge me. I come from District 1.
"Yea. Okay thanks." I looked fine, just fifteen minutes ago was the reaping anyways.
Glimmer walks into the room, her blonde hair curled. This was going to be hard, because I need to get her on my side. The Hunger Games are no laughing matter. I need her as my ally.
"Okay Glimmer, I know you hate me. But we are going to be allies, and we should get along." I reason. She sighs and takes a seat beside me.
"Your right. I do hate you. What am I supposed to say? 'Oops maybe I overreacted?' Fat chance."
"Glimmer, listen to me. We are going to die if you don't suck it up and become my ally."
"Why are you implying that I already am you ally and I just have to deal with you now?"
I groan. "Glimmer do you want a larger chance of winning or not?"
Sighing, she looks at me in my eyes. "Fine. Fine! Do you want to watch the District Two reaping since you're so fond of knowing your alliance?" She asks, in a relatively hostile tone.
"Yeah, sure." I reply and turn on the large flat screen television that is in front of us.
It takes time for all of the districts to get to the Capitol, and the first two districts arrive three days before eleven and twelve. Mainly because their reaping's tomorrow but whatever. I don't know why they decided to make out reaping a different day. Most of the districts arrive tomorrow, and we have the parade on the third day.
The first reaping that shows is District One.
Lola, the candy land avatar, had plucked Glimmer's name and she walked up, a little too confident, to the stage.
"Yikes... maybe I should have picked a more revealing dress. It looks like I have a flat chest from this angle."
I wanted to say: 'You look beautiful Glimmer. No matter what you wear!' But I'll seem like a creep. I ended up going with:
"You look fine Glim!"
She bought it. That was a good thing.
District two's escort was more normal than ours. She had normal colored skin. But the dress was no better. It was a sheer, puffy, powder blue dress. Her hair was a little beyond shoulder length and was dyed a navy blue and was wavy. Knowing that it matches Caeser's hair I know what to expect of him.
