Redin's P.O.V.
'Mrs. Buren can not be serious! She's making me partner with him just because he's new?! This is bullshit!' Redin shouted in his thoughts. He was outraged that he would have to be Ray's lab partner for the experiments they had to take home, so he would have to spend another evening with Ray.
"So... what do you want to make an experiment of?" Ray asked breaking into Redin's angry thoughts.
Redin shrugged, putting his head in his hands and sighed deeply. He just wanted to be left alone.
"Um, well no matter what we do, can I come over to your house? My parents are painting mine and I don't think you'd want to get high off paint fumes." Ray continued and his remark made Red laugh a bit, he'd probably feel better if he was high around Ray, it'd make the experience more bearable.
"Alright." He muttered scribbling at the corner of his lab sheet, not once looking up at Ray. Redin noticed that he seemed to shuffle uncomfortably in his seat.
'Well good.' He thought, Red was glad he could cause such a thing, but he wasn't really sure why. 'God he's so nerve racking.'
Redin begrudgingly began helping Raymond plan out their project and they finally came up with the idea to see if the Skinner mouse box actually worked. Red spent the rest of the day stressing over the thought of Ray coming into his home and when Redin did finally get home he couldn't stop himself from pacing about.
He double checked that he had gotten everything he needed for the project: the box, the bell, and of course the little mouse. Redin tried to distract himself playing with the mouse until he heard a faint knock on his door. Part of him wanted to just ignore it and wait for Ray to leave, but he knew that this project was a major part of his grade so he went to open the door.
"Hi Redin." Ray greeted him softly and Red had to resist the urge to cringe at his full name, but he didn't tell Ray anything different.
Redin stepped aside to let Ray in, not responding to him. He watched Ray take in his surroundings before turning to Redin and asking, "Okay where do we start?"
Redin shrugged slightly and murmured, "I guess we can set up the box itself first."
Raymond nodded and Redin lead him to the kitchen where he told Ray to take a seat while he grabbed the supplies. As he sat out all the things for the experiment he noticed that he forgot one thing, food for the little mouse.
"Shit." He muttered to himself, smacking his hand to the table.
"What's the matter?" Ray asked raising an eyebrow.
Red grabbed the mouse and showed it to Raymond as he explained, "I forgot his food."
Suddenly Ray jumped out of his seat stepping away from Redin.
Now Redin was the confused one, so he questioned, "What's your deal?"
Ray gulped, "I hate mice, you didn't tell me that we would be working with them!"
Red rolled his eyes, "Well that's pretty much the whole point of the skinner box and besides he won't hurt you. How can you be afraid of something so much smaller than you."
Redin did have to silently admit to himself that Ray was very small, but he didn't let it go any further than that. Ray shook his head and replied, "They just creep me out."
Red sighed and asked, "Have you ever even held one?"
"Hell no!" Ray shouted.
Redin shook his head in disbelief and ordered, "Give me your hand."
