IT COMMENCED ON A GLOOMY WINTER NIGHT, when the neighbourhoods were ornamented with the annual Christmas lights. Violet Vale had taken a fancy to Reid two months prior to that night, around the time he first enlisted to Oakwood High. It took no more than two weeks for him to make a move, but only after the perpetual hallway encounters that implicated longing stares and suggestive hand placements on her shoulders. It was that Christmas night did he inform her about his abnormal animalistic abilities. A werewolf, he expounded, all the legends are real.

It was the same day Reid Deucalion pleaded his father to turn her into one of them, hostile to her decree. The Alpha obliged, but when the occurrence took place, Violet Vale died for five minutes and seven seconds.

      "I think you killed him."

Valerie surveyed the sedated werewolf, double checking the rope that tied his hands behind the chair and guaranteeing it's sustainability. "He's not dead. I only contaminated him a little, like you told me to."

A slight scoff escaped Reid. "And that would be the first time you did something wrong?" Compressing her lips, she looked away from him. "Oh, come on, you know i'm kidding." He rolled his chestnut brown eyes, one's she used to compliment the comeliness of.

The two have been on edge since their slight discourse the day before, when they were discussing what to do with Isaac Lahey. Deucalion himself had tapped into the werewolf's memory all while taking away the clandestine memory of where the remainder of his pack were being held hostage.

"When does this stop?" She took a brave step closer to him. "Your father keeps giving us pathetic tasks and has us dealing with high schoolers."

     "We are high schoolers."

Violet gave him her back. "Not anymore. Not until he had us move to this shit-hole."

He squeezed her hands, a smirk teasing the corners of his mouth. "Hey, we're in this together. We're Bonnie and Clyde, you and I."

"You shouldn't be here when he wakes up."

Reid furrowed his brows, his expression darkening. "And why not? He already saw me last night."

"I know." Atlas, she peered at him, refusing to convey further explanation.

"Fine." He shrugged dismissively, albeit the irritability plastered on his expression was brazen and he couldn't hide it if he tried. "Just don't get too used to giving me orders, V." He ventured to slide it off as a joke, but the aggression in his tone slipped through, and Violet took it as a threat.

"I love you." Reid slanted over when he observed the familiar look of agony on her face. "Don't get too comfortable being alone with him, alright?"
