It's week three! Last week was rough. It was painful and filled with drama but I got through it. I don't know how but I did and I was thankful for that because I was afraid I was going to be eliminated and I did not want that. I was hoping this week was going to be better.
I finished my shower before throwing on my workout clothes, a pair of black Nike shorts and a black sports bra. I slipped on my shoes and then walked down to the kitchen to join Natalie. She was pretty lucky, honestly. She could work from home. She owned her own business and most of it she did from her office in her house, although, she did go to her store once a week. Today happened to be a day that she had to go to the store so she was rushing around the kitchen trying to get her stuff ready.
"Good morning." I said as I opened the refrigerator.
"Hey." she said. "Another day of rehearsal?"
"Yeah." I said as I grabbed out the orange juice. I grabbed a cup and poured a glass before looking at Natalie. "I'm really excited to see what we're doing."
"Whatever it is, you're gonna kill it." she said. She stopped running around and looked at me. "Look, before I leave, I just wanna say that I am so proud of you. You are doing all of this at the same time. The dancing, going through all of this breakup stuff with Cole and starting to have feelings for Gleb. That's a lot to handle. And I think you're doing an amazing of it."
I smiled a little. "Thanks." I said. "That means a lot coming from you."
"I gotta go deal with incompetent employees. But you're gonna go kick some rehearsal butt." she said. She hugged me quickly before walking out of the house.
I finished my orange juice before heading to the studio. I was nervous for this week. I mean, we made it past week two but that just means that the competition was going to get a little harder and to make it worse, since we had one show Monday and another one yesterday, that took one day away from us for rehearsing.
I pulled up to the studio and climbed out of the car before walking inside. Gleb was sitting on the couch scrolling through his phone and then looked up at me and smiled. "Good morning." he said. I smiled and sat down next to him. "So, last week was a little emotional and we had a little bit of time to deal with personal stuff but this week is different. We have only five days to get this dance right and perfect. And this week we are doing a Jive and we are facing off against Babyface and Allison."
I blew out a breath. "You know if I had told my eighth grade self that I was gonna be jiving in a face off against Babyface, I'd have said 'you're a liar'." I said. "It's really cool though. Babyface is a legend."
"Yes he is." he said. "Listen, since we're short on time to rehearse, I don't want you to take it personal if I get frustrated and become a grump."
"It's okay." I said. "You have a job to do. I get it. It's all good."
"Great." he said. "Let's stretch out and then get to work." We sat down on the floor and started stretching together.
"I'm worried. That man has got charm. Is it swagger? He's got swagger." I said. Gleb chuckled. We finished stretching out and then stood up to get to work. Gleb showed me the whole dance first and it was fast. Like really fast. No breaks in there. Nothing. This was constant movement with no stopping until the end. I was completely out of my element with this one. As soon as he stopped dancing, he turned to me. "Yeah, we might go home this week." I said causing him to chuckle.
"Come on. You can do this. I know you can." he said. "Let's go step by step. I'll show you the first five and then you repeat. We'll go slow." He stood next to me and I blew out a breath before we looked in the mirror. He did the first five steps and I repeat it. It took a few tries to really get the foot work right because it wasn't just stepping. It all had to be certain ways. This was by far the hardest dance I've ever had to learn. We did it one more time and I got the foot work and I was so excited, I did a little celebratory dance of my own which was mainly just jumping around in circles. "Davina, come on. We still have more work to do." Gleb said.
