After I stopped at the store to pick up the rest of the things I needed for dinner and a new outfit for tonight, I went back to my house. I had convinced Ashley to try and give this a shot. I also called Doug and Anita to have them come over for dinner as well. I thought the more people that were there the easier this night may go.

“Drew! I’m home!” I called setting the bags on the counter. I didn’t get an answer.

“Drew?” I asked as I walked around my apartment. He wasn’t in the kitchen but the oven was still on, so I was hoping he was still here. I checked the living room and my room, but there was no sign of him. I started to get worried. I pulled out my phone about to call him, but then I realized I hadn’t checked Ema’s room. I slowly walked to her door praying that they were in there. I took a deep breath and opened the door. I covered my mouth as I felt tears come to my eyes. Every worry I had about Drew treating Ema differently flew out the window as I watched him sleep in the rocking chair with him cradling her protectively in his arms. I couldn’t help but snap a picture on my phone. The flash went off and Robert jumped a little. It was so cute; I couldn’t help but laugh. He held Ema tighter and jumped up. Then he saw me and put Ema in her crib.

“I thought you were a robber,” he chuckled, pulling me to him.

“Oh? You think a robber is going to take pictures of you snuggling with my daughter?” I teased him, kissing his cheek.

“Oh, shut up,” he grumbled and walked out of the room.

I left Ema’s door cracked open so we could hear her if she cried, and followed him to the kitchen. I snuck up behind him and wrapped my arms around him.

“Awwwh, is somebody embarrassed?”

“No.”

“I think you’re lying.”

“No I’m not.”

“I think so.”

“I’m trying to make dinner here.”

I pushed myself between him and the counter.

“Dani,” he sighed.

“I think it was very cute that you fell asleep rocking Ema.” I told him, looking him in the eyes. “It actually meant a lot to me that you did.” I smirked at him, “And I find it incredibly sexy that you’re embarrassed.” I pulled his head down to mine and kissed him, and then I pushed him away. “By the way, my answer is yes.”

I started to walk away, leaving him looking a little confused. Then he realized what I meant and pulled me back to him, “You are absolutely amazing, you know that?” He kissed me passionately and picked me up and put me on the counter while pushing the stuff on the counter back at the same time. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he placed his hands on my hips pulling me close to him.  I don’t know how long we were there for, but I didn’t care about anything else in those moments. He made me feel like I was the last girl on earth and he was scared to lose me. I felt like I was on cloud nine. I never had these feelings with Brad, but now I knew what everyone was talking about.

Someone clearing their throat brought me back to reality. Drew jumped back and I whipped my head towards the door ready to bitch out whoever interrupted us. When I saw Aunt Tina standing there I instantly shut my mouth.

“Aunt Tina, You’re early?” I meant it as a statement, but it came out as more of a question. I hopped off the counter and straightened my shirt.

“Actually,” she started, looking at her watch. “I’m a little late.”

I looked at the clock and swore.

“Language!” Aunt Tina scolded just as Sami, Justin and Uncle Dave walked in the door with presents and a big bowl.
