other problems

So this isn't necessarily stuff that drove me to quit, it's just a few other problems that I've run into on Mineplex.

People used to call it "lagplex" as a joke. But that's actually being brutally honest. Lag on that server is crippling and it can mean the difference between life or death if you get a lag spike at the most inconvenient time. And yes, some people lag more than others, but I also believe that this is a major issue with server bandwidth. Mineplex had 4000 people earlier this summer and it lagged so hard that I couldn't even open the game menu and go to a game because everything was being so laggy. Even waiting for a few minutes didn't help so I left. I know it's the goddamn server's fault because

1) it happens to everyone
2) my ping is good- it's always in the 10s and 20s, so the lag isn't from MY system
3) other big servers have much less lag than Mineplex

There are also two types of lag- the lag that helps the lagger win games, and the lag that gets the lagger slaughtered in one second. It's annoying to kill some laggers because they're just teleporting around the map and you have no clue where they're gonna end up at. You try hitting them, but they teleport away from you so it won't work. Then there's the extreme lag when they're just frozen and you basically get a free kill. But basically, lag is an issue for everyone on Mineplex, not just those who don't have good internet or computer.

Hackers and cheaters are another problem, but you can sometimes deal with them and hackers aren't very common except for on the lobby gladiator game. That's why I didn't even bother with that shit lmao. But if you report a hacker, they usually get dealt with. Sometimes it takes a while, but they usually get banned or something. But yeah, hackers weren't that much of a problem for me, but they're still there and they're on every Minecraft server, so not really Mineplex's fault.

The thing that is Mineplex's fault is their wack-ass punishments. Like I only got like 6 warnings, so nothing too serious. But half of them were for stupid stuff so like wtf. Also I hate the way they do the warnings in-game. Like it doesn't really give you an explanation for what you did wrong, so how are you supposed to not break the rule again?

But the good news is, you can get a mod to check your punishment for you. They can actually find out the exact reason you got punishes and then they will tell you. Then you find out it's for a stupid reason. I get warnings for general rudeness and I don't even think I'm being rude and MY OWN MOTHER doesn't think so either when I tell her the whole story with unbiased context. But that gets me thinking, if I got warnings for trivial things, how many people got unfairly muted for a stupid reason?

Oh and, the warnings on the forums are worse because they give you points. I got a warning for "general rudeness" when I made a joke in a thread called "mute the person above you" I even explicitly wrote "sorry if I sound rude, I don't mean it and it was a joke" and I still get the fucking warning -_-

My main problem however is the fact that mods don't want to enforce other rules on the server. On SSM, teaming is bannable and they make it seem like a huge fucking offense. They don't even take it seriously. Like someone in the game can say to team up on someone, but they wouldn't get in trouble for saying that. Like I'm not saying to ban the person or anything, but they should at least get a warning for threatening to team up, since it is against the rules. This way, I think they would cut down on teaming a little because it would warn people away by actually following through with the threat of a punishment. Like if I said I was going to hurt someone, then I'd probably get in trouble for it before I even follow through.

Telling people to team up on one specific person is also hurtful because the person feels like they're being targeted, so it should maybe get like a minor chat offense as well as a minor gameplay offense. But come on, the server can't act like teaming is such a big offense if they're not gonna defend their own words. Also it's hard to find evidence of teaming anyways because if I were to record a video, the framerate and quality would suck. And the person reviewing it might see it differently than I did and the people still wouldn't get punished. So I think that having a screenshot of the chat would be a nice support.

But yeah, whatever. Clearly I don't have to deal with this stuff anymore, so thank god.
