"Please ask your father before you do this," Manu says to me as we walk down the hall.
"No," I answer forcefully.
"Please, Sir, I'm begging you. As your life-long servant, I think I know you best, and I think you're making a very bad decision," Manu says.
I ignore him. It is my life. My decisions. So if I choose to-.
"Sir Slash!"
I hear someone call my name. I look down the hall. I see Holly running toward me.
"What do you want?" I ask.
"Sir, I bring distressing news of your father!" Holly says, while trying to catch her breath.
I roll my eyes and keep walking.
"Sir! Don't you want to hear the news?"
Holly runs to my side.
"No."
I keep walking.
"But, sir!"
Holly continues to follow me.
"I said I don't want to hear it! Now go away! I think you have some windows to wash."
I leave Holly standing there, stunned. Manu stops to give her a 'Sorry about him,' smile.
"Manu!" I yell over my shoulder.
Manu jogs after me.
"You didn't have to do that, sir," Manu says.
"I know, but she keeps thinking she knows what goes on in my head," I say. "I hate it."
Manu sighs. We keep walking down the hall in silence.
