C-Sec Offices, Security Floor,
CitadelGarrus looked around Executor Pallins office as he sat there in silence.
After the bloodbath in Choras's Den in which two fleeing civilians, an Asari dancer and a drunken Batarian, had been hit by stray bulletts. Garrus, Larsan, Luhan, Carlos and Voruns had been taken back to the C-Sec floor of the citadel and Garrus had sat there waiting while one after the other the Executor had interviewed his squad.
Now it was his turn to relay the events of the previous hour to to the head of C-Sec.
As he sat there waiting for Executor Pallin to finish surveying the file he was holding he noticed a holographic photograph on the corner of Pallin's desk. It showed the Executor with an older looking Turian woman and a small Turian boy with a toy Turian Cruiser.
Executor Pallin looked up from his file and noticed Garrus looking at the image. "That's me with my mother and my son Sarlis. That was taken last time I was on Palaven. Do you have any family back on Palaven?"
"Just my sister Solana and my parents."
"How are they?"
"Last I saw my father was when he retired from C-Sec after he injured his back in a botched op after being shot in the spine. My mother is ill ,Corpalis Syndrome, my sister looks after them...sir can we please just cut to the chase."
The Executors posture shifted and his face became serious. "Very well Garrus can you tell me how a team, sent in to search the Lower Wards for any sign of illegal arms trade, ended up in a shoot out resulting in two civilian deaths?"
"We were in Chora's Den, we asked to see the storeroom and the bartender lead us to the door which opened to reveal a squad of eight Blood Pack Mercenaries. They were lead by a Krogan who called himself The Zealot."
The Executor rubbed his chin and seemed to be deep in thought. "Ok I know your telling the truth about the Blood Pack but we only recovered seven bodies, unless you include the Varren of course but what of this eighth individual? As that human saying goes, the one that got away."
"He got away sir. I don't know how ,he shot a fire extinguisher and slipped away in the smoke but we were in a dead end room so he would have had to go out through the front doors. You were arriving outside those doors at that time so he would have had to run straight past you,"
"He couldn't have just vanished are you certain there are no other exits?"
Asked Executor Pallin.Garrus raised his left arm and bringing up a map of the lower wards on his omni-tool. "As you can see sir here is Chora's Den and it only has one way in and out."
"Well Vakarian this is your mess how are you going to clean it up?" Asked Executor Pallin.
"He was leading a gang of Blood Pack mercenaries ,they operate out of Omega so I was thinking Larsan and I could take a ship out to Omega to talk to Aria T'loak. Nothing happens on Omega without her knowing so if anyone will know who our Zealot is its her."
"Omega is out in the Terminus systems way outside Citadel space and our jurisdiction Garrus. It's against regulation."
Garrus leaned back in his seat and sighed "Fine maybe our Batarian informant knows something useful."
"Very well ,tell Khato Gakmorok I said hi." Executor Pallin said putting down his files and getting out of his chair "Your Debrief is finished Garrus you can go now."
"Goodbye Executor." Garrus said shaking hands with Pallin and heading out the door.
As Garrus left the room he found Larsan waiting for him in one of the seats by the door.
"How did it go?"Larsan asked standing to greet Garrus.
"Not too well the only lead we had was against regulation." Replied Garrus.
"What now?"
"Lets go find our informant."
