Adrien stared at Marinette for the entire school day, remembering the words she said to him, or rather Chat Noir, the night before.
"Girl," Alya spoke during their lunchtime, "have you noticed Adrien staring at you all day?"
"What?" Marinette turned and looked at Adrien who glanced away from her once she caught him.
"You should go talk to him," Alya suggested.
Marinette nervously shook her head, "there's no way," even though she technically was dating Chat Noir, she still was intimidated by Adrien Agreste.
"Go-" Alya pushed her best friend towards the boy.
"Hey- hey, Mari," Adrien muttered.
"Hey, Adrien," Marinette replied, "Alya just forced me to come over here, she said that she thought you had been staring at me or something."
"I don't think I was," he nervously laughed.
"Yeah.. I uh- never mind."
Adrien looked at the girl who didn't even know he loved her. Or that she loved him.
After a short silence, Adrien commented, "so, what do you think of Chat Noir?"
Marinette stood still, shocked by the sudden question, "well, he-" he smiled at her, "he's pretty cool, I guess."
Adrien nodded, "yeah, I just know that a lot of girls have like a crush on him," he did a smirk, and in that moment, Marinette swore she was looking at Chat Noir.
She looked down thinking, "I don't need to have a crush on him." With a smile on her face.
Honestly, looking into her eyes, he wanted to kiss her just like the night before. It was a kiss neither of them could get off their mind. Even more so, he wanted to tell her he loved her too.
But alas, the students were called back inside. For class.
As they all sat down in their regular seats, the teacher announced, "I have decided partners for everybody that you, for the rest of the school year, will be sitting with. So, I will call you in pairs of two, it is up to you of where to sit."
She called names and names, they were all boy and girl. Then both Marinette and Adrien felt their hearts sink when the teacher called, "Adrien and Marinette, please."
They sat next to each other in the farthest row back.
Adrien nervously tapped his pencil in the desk. He just kept almost saying, "I love you."
"Adrien?"
"Yeah?"
"I wanted to ask," she nervously sighed, "what do you think of Chaton- Chat Noir?"
He lightly laughed at her mistake, "he's- he's pretty cool. Like you said," he tried to think of a  way to avoid an awkward silence, "who do you like better, him or Ladybug?"
Marinette thought about the question, which was really asking if she liked her boyfriend or herself better, "I don't know."
"Hm, I think they should date," he mentioned to see how she would react.
"Yeah," she sighed, "wait- no- well- what if they already are?"
He looked at her with such confusion, did she think he was cheating on her? Then he thought of one possible thing- that he just discarded immediately.
"Alright, attention back to the front of the of the room!" The teacher demanded.
As they both put their hands on the table, their hands brushed against one another. Adrien reached to hold her hand, then pulled his hand back.
As class went on, he slightly was dazed out, staring at her.
"Adrien!" The teacher said, startling him, "what do you think about the question?"
He looked at the board, trying to get a hint of what was going on, "well, miss, your question has a lot of answers-"
"Care to tell me one?"
He looked around the room, everyone was looking at him, even Marinette, "uhh, yes."
Giggles echoed amongst the classmates. Adrien embarrassedly looked down at the desk. Marinette looked over at him and softly smiled. He smiled back at her, then looked in the opposite direction.
Marinette raised her hand, "excuse me, may I go to the bathroom?"
"Yes, just don't take too long," the teacher replied.
Marinette nodded, then proceeded to leave the classroom. Soon, Adrien got a text reading, "hey, Chaton, I just wanted to talk about what I said last night? I keep thinking about it."
Adrien knew how much trouble he would get in if he was caught texting in class, so he didn't dare.
A couple minutes later Marinette entered the room, with a disappointed look on her face. She sat back down, she couldn't help but want to talk to Chat. And he wanted to talk to her too.
