Peter's POV

Day 567-Post-apocalypse

It had been one year, six months, two weeks, and five days since the nuclear outbreak. I had lost everyone. My family and my friends. They either died from the hazardous chemicals in the air, or are still surviving all on their lonesome. The chemicals never effected me, since I already had radioactive blood. But most of everyone else died. Few survived, and I was one of them. I never knew if Ned, MJ, or even my aunt lived the outbreak. I was walking home from school alone, so I never got news. I never even noticed that this happened until I sat down and watched the news. I was shocked. I thought about MJ and if she was ok. I figured she would be prepared for this kind of thing but I wanted to know for sure. So I started to look for her. After weeks and weeks of searching, I lost hope. I've been living on the deserted streets of New York ever since.

MJ's POV

It had been so long since this all started. So long that I lost count of the days. I had been sitting in my room, watching the news when I heard what happened. I had been prepared for this kind of thing to happen for years. My family thought that I was crazy for preparing. I put on my gas mask and walked around my quiet house. I went outside and saw my mom dead on the side walk, my dad right next to her. They had died from the chemicals in the air. I saw car crashes everywhere. I tried calling Peter to see if he was okay, but the power was down. Ever since then I have been surviving on the lonely streets of New York. I never got to know if Peter lived. He was the only one I had to worry about.

Narrator

Peter was sitting on what used to be his favorite bench in the area. He was snacking on some peanuts that he grew himself. He had actually been very successful in growing plants. He found that peanuts, carrots, and potatoes did the best. He figured that since they grew underground, the nuclear air didn't effect them as much. He finished his peanuts and started to go on his daily run. He was about half-way through his usual route when he spotted a figure up ahead. He thought that it was probably his mind because he had never seen anyone around. But as he got closer, he started to recognize that figure.

MJ was taking her daily "walk of insanity" as she liked to call it. She was eating a newly roasted potato that she grew herself. She never had a green thumb, but she just assumed that she got super potato seeds when she planted them. She roasted it on an open fire that she just stumbled upon. As she was on her walk of insanity, she noticed what seemed to be a person ahead. She didn't think that could be possible. She hadn't seen anyone around here for months. But as she drew closer, she recognized that person, and wondered how he was alive without a mask.

They both walked closer and closer. They were getting more hopeful by the second. Peter recognized her first. MJ couldn't really see all that well since he eye wear was fogged up and dirty. Once she got close enough to see, she ran towards him and tackled him.

"MJ, what are you doing?" Peter asked, surprised by the attack.

"I found you. I couldn't help myself," she said, trying her best not to cry. She got off of him and they stood up.

"Now the real question is, how did you survive without a mask?"

"Well, you know how I'm Spider-Man and all that," Peter answered.

"Yeah. What does that have to do with...ohhhhhh, I understand. Radioactive spider," she realized.

"Yeah, I wish you could take off your mask," said Peter.

"Oh me too. I wish I had your radioactive blood, but at the same time I don't think I would like to be a crime-fighting Spider-person swinging around on a web," MJ said.

They started walking around. They had a nice conversation. You know, the usual catching up deal, but more intense. As they neared a hospital, Peter got an idea.

"MJ, I know you're going to think I'm crazy, but I think I know how you could take your mask off," Peter said.

"Oh really? Hows that?" asked MJ.

"Ok, there's a doctor that works at that hospital over there. I know he's been preparing for an outbreak like this. I've seen the masks that he keeps in the storage area. He told me all of his plans for when something like this happened while I was recovering from a bad head injury once,"

"Go on," MJ said.

"If he kept his plan, then he's up there at this very moment trying to find some kind of vaccine to make up immune to the nuclear gas. And I know that there is a high chance that he has already found one."

"Peter you're a genius!" exclaimed MJ.

They raced to the abandoned-looking building and crept inside. They went to the elevator which, to their surprise, was still working. They went to the 3rd floor and cautiously yet quickly went to this doctor's office. The doctor's name was Dr. Starch. As expected, he had already found a vaccine to cure the nuclear effect. The doctor had no mask and was very much alive.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Peter Parker. I've been waiting for you," said the Doctor.

"Yeah, well, I just now remembered the talk the had," Peter replied.

"Well it's about time! I found a vaccine in April!" exclaimed Starch.

"Uh, remind me what month it is," said Peter.

"It's August. I've been keeping track of the months. Also, I'm just now noticing that you have no mask, yet you are still very much alive. Explain to me how this is possible," replied Starch.

"Uhhh, well, you know Spider-Man?" asked Peter

"Yes," replied the Doctor.

"Well, that's me," Explained Peter.

Starch smacked his forehead in realization. It had all been so clear. How could he have not come to this conclusion.

"My God it makes sense now! Your radioactive bloodstream must have been some kind of nuclear disease killer! You really are a miracle kid! No wonder you survived a most deadly infection that would've otherwise killed you!" Starch said, in a state of comprehension and shock.

"Um, I'm the real reason we came here," MJ said.

"Oh yes, I'll get you ready for the vaccine immediately. If you have any doubts about my vaccine, just know that I have at least five people who have taken the vaccine and have survived without a mask," explained Starch.

"No, I think this will work. I'm ready when you are," said MJ.

"Great."

The Doctor prepared the needle and soon after he injected the nuclear killer into her veins. after the injection, MJ was aloud to slowly and carefully take off her mask. As she did, she realized how sweet the air smelled and how she had missed it in that mask. She turned to Peter and saw how much he had changed. She couldn't contain herself so she just went for it. She pulled him into a kiss that seemed to last forever. Tears rolled down her cheeks as did they roll down Peter's. They were now and forever safe from everything. Nothing could stand between them. Not even and apocalypse.

Holy crap did I get into this one. This has probably been one of my favorite ones to write so far. As you can tell by over 1,300 words. I really enjoyed writing this and boy howdy am I ready to go to bed. Let me know how you feel about this kind of writing. Do you like it more or less then my previous ones. I really do hope you enjoyed reading this as I sold my eternal soul to get it done. I'm kidding... I sold my arm. Anyways, I hope you have a great day!
