"Extra! Extra! Sir Danvers Carew murdered during the night!!" The paper boys shouted from the streets. Utterson swallowed thickly as he payed for one, reading the article, but he was approached by two police officers.
"Sir, come with us." One said. Utterson looked taken aback.
"Excuse me?" The lawyer looked at the two. "What have I done wrong? I'm just walking."

"It's not about you. A Henry Jekyll is claiming you to be his lawyer."

"I am. What's happened?"

"We found half a cane at the recent murder scene with his name on it."

"That evidence doesn't make sense given the context of the crime. Dr. Jekyll isn't a criminal, and he was with me during the night."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yes. He didn't feel safe at his own home."

"So he's got nerve weakness? Pathetic." The other pig scoffed.
"We'll see who's pathetic." Utterson mumbled, "I assume you're keeping him against his will in a cell, hm?"
"Maybe. What's it to you?" He hissed a bit.
"Everyone is innocent until proven guilty." Utterson said. "And I'd like to prove my client's innocence." He pushed past the two and headed to the police station himself.

When they arrived, Jekyll tried to rush to his dear friend, but the cop holding him by chains yanked him back. He whimpered in pain, and stopped moving.
"Let him go." Utterson said.
"Can't. The fucker's a murderer." The cop answered.
"No he isn't. He was with me on the night in question. You all are pulling conclusions out of your asses and it's only making you look like fools." Utterson stated, his gaze cold and not at all welcoming like it normally was. Jekyll kept his mouth shut, because Utterson was scary when he was genuinely mad.
"Fools?! We are Scotland Yard!!" The officer barked at the lawyer.
"So what? You're trying to ruin a good man's name. And for what? Shits and giggles? You all are pathetic." Utterson snapped. "Let Henry go. He is innocent, and has an alibi. The cane you found was very clearly stolen by someone else because of said alibi." He then said. The officer groaned, unchaining Jekyll and taking the handcuffs off. Jekyll rushed towards Utterson, who lead the other out of the station and to his home.

Once there, Jekyll started spiralling.
"John— J-John he stole it! He stole the cane— Why oh why did he murder? Why did I make him?! Why did I think this experiment would work out?! My evil side has committed a major crime!!! Scotland Yard will be after both of us— Oh god why?!" Henry fell to his knees, gripping at his head. Utterson knelt down, gently placing a hand on Henry's back.
"Henry, dear, please try to stay calm. Who stole the cane?" The lawyer asked.
"Hyde did. I'm sure of it." Jekyll stated. "It must have been when I was out.." He leaned against the other a little.
"Okay.. Now, Scotland Yard won't be after you. I promise. I'll make sure they stay away from you." Utterson promised.
"Okay..." Jekyll mumbled.
"Now, you need sleep. You can sleep in the guest room, alright?" Utterson told Jekyll, helping the doctor to his feet and leading him to said room. Jekyll opened the door and slipped inside, but before shutting it, he told Utterson to steer clear of Hyde. Utterson nodded, understanding why, but deciding he'd do it anyway.

Late at night, Utterson found Hyde wandering the streets of Bethnal Green. He was covered in dried blood, and held a broken cane. Utterson came up next to him, and he was met with a glare and a hiss.
"What the fuck do you want?" Hyde asked.
"I want to ask you some questions." Utterson replied. "Could you take me to your home?" He asked.
"Ugh." But Hyde did it anyway, leading Utterson through back-alleys and dangerous streets. Once in Soho, Hyde pushed his way through the small crowds, taking Utterson to his flat.
"So what questions." Hyde looked at Utterson after shutting/locking the door.
"Did you steal from Henry?" The lawyer asked.
"Often. Why?" Hyde tilted his head a bit.
"Because his cane was found at the crime scene of a murder. Wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?" Utterson asked, knowing damn well Hyde had something to do with this. But Edward didn't reply. The other groaned.
"Edward, you don't realized how this can ruin Henry's life, do you?" He asked. "He's already been in handcuffs," Utterson went on and on, until Hyde grabbed him by the collar and slammed his lips onto his. Utterson tried to process what the fuck just happened, while Hyde broke the kiss after a few seconds.
"Do you only ever talk about Jekyll? It's a shame, really." Hyde purred. "We could have gotten along if you were over him." He grinned. "Now I think you're done with your stupid questions. Get out of my house, and never come back." His grin never wavered from his face as Utterson rushed out.

A few weeks later, Jekyll was busy reading over some papers in his study, when Hyde tumbled in through a window. The doctor looked over at him.
"Uh—" Jekyll was cut off by Hyde grabbing him and starting to ramble about how he fucked up. "Edward." Henry set his hands on Hyde's shoulders. "What did you do?"
"S-She was standing there and I just— Something took over and I killed her— Th-The bitch—" Hyde started laughing falling to his knees and tilting his head back, his hands covering his face. Jekyll took a few steps back.
"Hyde. I'm not getting you out of this crime." He told his counterpart. Hyde stopped laughing and looked at Jekyll.
"Excuse me?" Hyde hissed, standing up and getting closer. "May I remind you that I am the stronger one here?!"
"No you aren't. You're a delusional man with dreams of grandeur you can never hope to achieve." Jekyll hissed.
"Grandeur... Hahahah..... never have I...... HAHAHAHAHAH!" Hyde grabbed Jekyll by the jacket, yanking him closer. "I'll show you just how delusional I can get! Everyone in this city will be purged." Edward's voice took on a threatening tone, but it was a little shaky. Henry only stood there, rooted to the spot of out of fear. Hyde looked over at Henry's HJ7 work, and suddenly grabbed it, rushing out of the study, Jekyll rushing after. However Hyde was way too fast, and Jekyll watched as he ran off into the night. He swallowed thickly and went back up the stairs into his study, figuring he would just try and find out how to end this nightmare.

Hyde, meanwhile, when back to his apartment and got to work trying to create more HJ7. Why, you may ask? To purge to city, of course. He spent days working on it, and once it was perfect, he sold it out of a small stall in an underground market. He claimed it would let people have true freedom, and to only drink it at night when they were alone.

Utterson noticed the papers being all about more Hyde like people, and he got extremely worried. He went to Jekyll's house, and knocked. He was greeted with Poole.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Utterson, but Dr. Jekyll isn't seeing guests right now." Poole told him.
"Why is that?" Utterson inquired.
"We're not sure.. he's been holed up in his study for months, we're not even sure he's sleeping." Poole admitted.
"... if the situation gets worse, please contact me, understand?" Utterson requested.
"Of course, sir." Poole shut the door, and Utterson walked back to his house, trying to come up with a way to keep Jekyll safe.
