The oldest one of the girls, Andrea, woke up in the middle of the night when she heard a banging noise coming from somewhere in her room. She had her own room so there were no possibilities for anyone being in there except for herself. Andrea sat up in her bed and felt her heart drop slightly as she saw her little sister Cindy. She was standing in front of Andrea's wardrobe with her back facing her.
She repeatedly banged her head against the wardrobe over and over again. Andrea called for her but she didn't stop, nor answer. Cindy had been a sleepwalker before when she was younger so it wasn't anything too new for Andrea. She went downstairs into her parents bedroom and woke them up.
-Mom, dad, Cindy is sleepwalking in my room.
-Really? She hasn't done that in years. Can you help her Roger?
-Yeah sure.
Andrea and Roger went back upstairs and into her bedroom where Cindy was still hitting her head on the wardrobe doors. Roger carefully lay his hand upon Cindy's forehead to protect her from hitting herself again and started leading her out of the room.
-Can't you just wake her up dad?
-No it's not good to do that. It can drive her to panic.
The next morning was Saturday and the girls were all home from school. Roger was off work and Carolyn didn't have a job so the whole family was home together. It was freezing cold inside the house and no one really knew what was going on but their thought pondered all kinds of theories. The girls were eating breakfast while Roger and Carolyn talked in the living room. It was a very nice and calm morning and so they were feeling slightly calmer than usually.
-I don't know what's hapening here Roger.
-I'm sure there's a reassonable explaining for all of this.
-Like what? Our daughters screaming bloody murder and our dog suddenly dying. You know how we always leave the door unlocked? The door to the basement locked while I was in there and our daughter sleep walked for the first time in five years!
-Calm down.
-Do you even know the worst part Roger? All of this happened at 03:07 pm. The same time that our clocks stopped at.
-Okay maybe there's something going on. I don't know, but let's just wait. If there really is something, I promise we'll find someone who can help us.
-Good, and there's one more thing.
Carolyn said, sounding a bit worried.
-I got new bruises on my back.
-Didn't you get any medications?
-They don't work. I guess I just have to wait or something.
Roger nodded and tried to not look too worried but even he could sense that something was wrong. Carolyn waited for him to leave for work before she
decided to head outside. On her way through the hallway, Carolyn heard a sound from April's room. She was talking.-You can't do that silly, haha. No.
Carolyn slowly opened the door and peaked in. April was sitting on her bed with the music box in her hands.
-What are you doing April?
-I'm talking to Rory.
April said happily.
-Can you tell me about him?
-He's always sad.
Carolyn hesitated for a moment before she asked-
- You think I can talk to him?
-He doesn't trust you. He says she's watching you.
-Who?
-I think she's the one who makes him sad.
The lump was back in Carolyn's stomach. She just walked out of April's room and into the kitchen and started with the dishes. There was so much that needed to be done and the stress around the house was almost unbearable. Carolyn finished the last dirty dish and glanced out the window. April was running on the lawn with a boy, walking beside her, holding her hand.
The boy turned around and looked at Carolyn while he was holding April's hand. He wore very old clothes and a little hat. His hands were tiny and his lips were as blue as the sky. He started to cry as he saw her and turned around and placed his tiny hands on April's shoulders. Carolyn felt her heart drop and she ran out as fast as she could but the boy was already gone.
-Who was that?
-It was Rory.
April said as if nothing was wrong.
-He wanted to show me the lake down the house. He says that's the place where...
April suddenly stopped in mid-sentence and turned around and whispered something.
-What April? The place where what?
-I'm sorry mommy. Rory says i can't tell you more.
It was night and everyone had fallen asleep since long but in the middle of the night, Andrea woke up. There was another banging noise that sounded the same as last time. It was Cindy. She was sleep walking again, banging her head onto the wardrobe doors. Andrea sighed and got up. She did the same as her father had done and placed her hand on Cindy's forehead.
-You can sleep in my bed tonight.
Andrea said and led her sister to bed. When she was done putting the cover over her, she heard something drop to the floor beneath her. Andrea bent down to pick it up. When she came up, Cindy was sitting up in bed and pointing towards the wardrobe.
Andrea carefully turned around and followed the direction of Cindy's finger with her gaze. There, upon the wardrobe, sat a a creature, so sinister with its sharp yellow eyes that Andrea for a second could not move, neither scream before it had already lunged at her.
