Chapter 7
Soccer Practice
_________________Hey, I won't be coming to school today :(( I'm on my period xx
I read the text from Evie, getting out of my car and closing the door.
Oh shit. Rest loads and I'll try to drop by with some ice cream after school. I text back, walking slowly to the school entrance.
It's okayy. Ik you have practice too. It's your first day after a week ^o^ Concentrate on that, okay?
I hesitate, but then reply, Alright :( Gwss
Pocketing my phone, I walk up the steps and am surprised to see Kile waiting on top.
"Hey what's up." he says, noticing me.
"Morning. Are you waiting for someone?" I ask, stopping and looking at him curiously.
"Yeah. You." he grins, and pushes his black hair out of his eyes. "I thought I'd start this bleary Monday morning with some good news for you."
"Yeah? What is it?" I ask, and walk to the door, letting him follow me.
"You got all the questions right on the worksheet!" he exclaims, bouncing next to me and beaming with happiness? Pride? I can't tell.
"No way, for real?" I say, and snatch his phone when he holds it out to me. Pictures of my test with poorly drawn ticks glared at me from the screen, and I can't stop the small smile that twitches over my lips. "Wow, I was sure I got like 4 of them wrong."
"Nope, all good." Kile pips, taking his phone back.
"Thanks, it's because of your help." I meant it.
Stopping in front of my locker, I open the lock while Kile leans on the locker right next to mine.
"You're going back to practice again starting today, right?" he asks.
"Yeah." I nod. "How did you know?"
"You know Gary right?"
"Yeah." He is part of the team, a mid-fielder. He's an excellent player. I think he's already been offered scholarships by many universities.
"Well he's kind of a family friend. he was over this weekend, and he mentioned it." Kile shrugs.
"I didn't know that." I muse, taking my Accounts text book out and shutting the door. "What class do you have now?"
"Comp science." he answers, following me again when I start walking to the stairs.
"Isn't that down here?" I ask, wondering why he was following me up. I'm pretty sure the labs are down here.
"I... need to pick something up from the Math class." Kile sputters, cheeks darkening slightly. "I left my water bottle on Friday. By accident."
"Ah." I resume my walk back up. "Is it-"
I am interrupted by a loud call of my name, and rol my eyes internally, bracing myself as Hale barrels down the hall and crashes into me.
I wince and stumble slightly, catching him against me.
"I need the accounts homework like right now!" he pants, gazing up at me in desperation. "Please? Please? Now! Agh, Mr. Turas is going to fucking kill me."
"Calm down." I urge, gently pushing him off me instead of vaulting him away because I haven't been in this close contact with anyone except Mika and it still unnerves me.
