When I walked into History, all eyes fell upon me, the small sound of whispers soon followed after I sat down in my seat. I couldn't hear exactly what some people were saying but I was able to pick up a few words, and from the sounds of it, it sounded like they were talking about me. I felt something touch my shoulder, I looked behind me and I saw a boy with short brown hair, and glasses smiling at me.

"Hi, I'm Klaus Baudelaire, you must be Headmaster Denouement's daughter," he said extending his hand out for me to shake it. I took it and smiled back at him. "Yes I am, I'm Dusk, hi," I introduced myself. "So, are you finding everything okay?" he asked. "Yes, I am. I help my father drop off stuff at different classrooms, so I know my way around here," I answered. Soon, the bell rang, and my uncle walked into the room and started class.

"Good morning, class. We have a new student with us today, her name is Dusk, Dusk Denouement," Everyone was looking at me and I waved slightly at them. "Okay, let's get started, take out your history books, and turn to chapter one, we'll be learning about the Aztec empire," As I pulled out my history textbook, I looked up and saw my Uncle looking at me with a small smile on his face. He couldn't let people know that I was his niece, but it was nice to have my uncle be my history teacher.

For the rest of class, we read through the textbook and answered a few questions until the bell rang, When I walked out of class, I saw that Klaus was following me, and I started to grow a little worried, wondering if he was trying to stalk me or something. "Are you following me?" I asked turning around to face him. "No, I'm not, I'm just heading to Geometry with Ms. Bass, what about you?" he explained.

"I'm heading to Ms. Bass's class too, I am not looking forward to it, I hate doing mathematical equations," I sighed. Klaus gave me a sad smile and I could tell that he had some sympathy for me. "It'll be fine, it's actually quite easy if you do the math right," he said as we walked into the classroom.

"Dusk, there's some people I want you to meet," Klaus said when we sat down across from each other. Two girls turned around in their seats and smiled at me. "Dusk, this is my sister Violet, and this is my friend Veronica Bella," Klaus said introducing the two identical girls. "Hi, I'm Dusk," I smiled extending my hand out. "Nice to meet you, Dusk I thought you would be a stuck up girl being the headmaster's daughter and all but, you seem really nice, no offense," Veronica smiled.

"None taken, but I'm just curious, why did you think I would be stuck up?" I asked. Violet opened her mouth to speak, but before the words would come out, the bell rang and Ms. Bass approached her desk ready to start class. "We'll tell you later," Violet said turning around to face the front. "Alright class, I hope everyone got a good night's sleep last night because these few math problems will make you push your brain to the limit today," Ms. Bass said. Almost immediately everyone in the class sighed, including Veronica, Klaus, and Violet.

Throughout the class, I couldn't stop thinking about what Violet was going to say about their assumptions I was a bad person Is there someone at Denouement High that was a bad person, and did they suspect I would be bad too? Out of the corner of my eye, I could see someone writing on a small piece of folded up paper.

It looked like it was Veronica, she passed the note to Klaus, and then I felt another tap on the shoulder, and I looked over and saw Klaus quickly passed me the note. When I looked back at Ms. Bass, she was still writing equations on the board. I quickly opened the note and I saw there was a small paragraph written on it...

Hey Dusk, What Violet was going to say was that the reason why we thought that you would be stuck up is because there's already one girl at school is stuck up, her name is Carmelita Spats. But, you are not stuck up, you seem like a genuinely nice person. I hope we get to be good friends!

Veronica

I looked over at Veronica, and I saw her glance over at me and give me a small smile. I had never heard of Carmelita Spats, but I wanted to see how stuck up she was.
