Chapter 3: A Party I Wish I Could Remember

P.O.V: Brooke
"Hey dad I'm spending the night at Jades tonight" I said walking into the kitchen and grabbing an apple to eat.

"uh huh. well can you get a ride home in the morning. Your mom is coming home tomorrow and I have to pick her up." My dad muttered not looking up from his computer screen. I sighed and walked out of the room. He knew I would get a ride but I just didn't feel like saying

"For sure dad ! "

Just hearing him mention my mom kind of puts me on edge. I went to my room and packed a quick bag because there was no way I would be coming home tonight smelling like alcohol and weed.

Conner should be here soon which means I need to start getting ready. With my hair already curled from going to the mall with Courtney and the kids I just needed to touch up on my makeup and change into the dress I had picked out last night. After I was done with all that I went to my room to pick out some shoes but it was taking me longer than I expected.

My heart stopped when I heard a knock at the door and I quickly grabbed some cute sandles and bolted down the stairs. Beating my dad to the door I quickly went outside and greeted Conner.

"Hey" I said frantically.

"Hey?" Conner said unsure.

"You ready to go?" He asked with a smile.

"Ya lets go." I chirped walking to his car. I got in on the passenger side while he started up the car. He began to drive and turned on the radio but I could barely hear it. There was an awkward silence in the car. neither one of us knew what to say.

"So have you ever smoke or drank before?" Conner asked awkwardly.

"Ya this isn't my first time at a party no need to worry ." I said calmly.

"Really?"

" What is that supposed to mean?" I blurted.

"No I didn't mean it in a bad way I just meant you look so nice and innocent I would never had thought.." Conner stopped talking and kept his focus on the road his face was red and I could tell that I embarrassed him.

I busted out in laughter unable to stop myself.I kept laughing Conner awkwardly laughed too.

"I'm sorry haha its just Matthew said the same thing to me a while back and well the fact people actually think that about me just kinda cracks me up." I admitted. I continued to give directions and we ended up at jades house sooner than I expected.

We walked up to the door and knocked on it... no answer. So we knock again. The door swings open and the smell of weed engulfs me and Connor.

"Hey guys come on in we are just chillen before everyone else arrives." Jade greeted practically pulling us inside. As I walked in I saw Aubrey and her boyfriend , Jades sister and Matthew all sitting around a bong.

I stopped dead in my tracks when my eyes met Matthews. His eyes looked at me as if they were begging for pity. Then rage filled them when Conner walked up next to me.

"Who the hell is he and why is he with you?" Matthew howled.

"Matthew stop. you have no right to start acting all jealous when I start to hang out with other guys after you cheated on me." I hissed sitting next to Aubrey.

"I'm Conner.. Me and Brooke are just friends." Conner reassured sitting next to me.

"Brooke I got you a drink I know you don't usually like the taste of alcohol but this is some good shit. here try it" Jade said walking into the living room. I took it eagerly needing a drink at a moment like this. To my surprise it was actually really good and I drank it all.
