'Tell me about it, those freaks won't stop making new things, it's almost scary!' Michael told Edward (Marah's father) with a loud laugh. 'Honestly, someone needs to lock them up!' Edward replied with a laugh of his own. Marah sighed, trying to ignore their conversation. 'Wouldn't you agree, Marah dear?' another one of Edward's friends, Oliver, sneered at the young girl. 'I disagree, as a matter of fact' Marah snapped back, throwing a glare at him. 'All right, calm down missy' Oliver ignored her, turning to her father instead. Marah ended up listening to her stupid father's debates with his friends and making small but polite conversations with the guests for the first couple of hours at the party.
'Psst! Mars! Did you find any handsome boys here?' Marah's older sister, Melanie whisper-shouted from behind the stair banister. 'No. To be honest, they're all either too opinionated or too polite' Marah responded, blankly. 'Darn it! I wish I could've met a boy to dance with..' her sister mumbled with a dreamy sigh, starting to daydream. 'Haha, you could have just asked me' Marah suggested with a chuckle, holding out her hand. Mel's face immediately lit up with pride as she took her sisters hand and went over to the dance floor.
After hours of giggling, dancing and watching Melanie fail to impress the boys there, Marah felt her stomach growl loudly. 'I agree with your stomach. Dinner should be starting soon hopefully' Mel joked as she gulped down a glass of water. After all of that dancing, they definitely needed it. 'Should we go outside to get some fresh air?' Marah asked as she put down her glass. 'Yes, that's a great idea. It's getting stuffy in here' Mel and Marah giggled again.
The short girl opened the double- doors that led into their back garden and sighed as she felt the cool evening air hit her face. 'Let's go to the fountain!' Melanie thought aloud, walking ahead of her sister. Marah smiled brightly as she walked behind her. Tonight didn't have the best start but, as always, her sister's bubbly and bright personality made her feel more happier than she was before.
