Nightmare's Connection [DISCONTINUED... And Very Old-]

Chapter 13

Nightmare became restless in his sleep, it seemed he couldn't wake up but couldn't stay asleep. He didn't even know how long he had been asleep for, the constant nightmares seemed to distract him from keeping track of time. He slowly started moving deeper into sleep he was back under the tree, but it was a battlefield. Nightmare had Dream pined down slowly Dusting away, with a spear through his chest Nightmare could hear himself talking, but no matter how hard he tried he wasn't in control. Soon enough Nightmare jolted up finally escaping his own sleep, he didn't realize Error in front of him.

"Nightmare...?"

Nightmare jumped, and looked at Error. He sighed realizing who it was and lent back against the tree.

It was just a nightmare.

"Are you okay...?"

It took Nightmare awhile to process the question, his mind seemed to be scattered on a million different thoughts.

"Y-yeah." 

Error sat there with a disbaliving face.

"How long have you been here?"

"A while now..."

Nightmare paused, Nightmare probably looked distressed with all the nightmares.

I wonder if I can pull this one off...

"So what was your nightmare about...?"

Probably not.

"What do you mean nightmare?"

"I mean you looked distressed in your sleep and you also jolted awake..."

Someone please come change the subject...

"I really didn't have a nightmare, I had a pretty peaceful sleep actually, so I'm not sure why I looked distressed."

Nightmare even managed to make it look like he was confused while saying it, Error blinked a few times probably debating if he was lying or not.

"You still jolted awake..."

"I did? I didn't really notice..."

Error looked at Nightmare, kind of shocked to be honest.

"You know... you can tell a pretty smooth lie..."

Error studied Nightmare looking for any signs to reveal he was lying.

"What do you mean lie?"

Error sighed in defeat, he still thought Nightmare was lying but he knew he wouldn't be able to prove it.

Victory, but I should be more careful Error still dosen't look like he believes me. 

It had been awhile and Nightmare and Error had decided to go back to the stronghold, Nightmare wasn't really sure what there next move should be so he spent most of the day with Error. It was quite a nice day but Nightmare felt like something was missing. Like Dream was missing, Nightmare really wanted to go back to his Timeline just to see Dream but he didn't believe he would be able to handle it. He would go back one day, maybe he could even save Dream. Nightmare walked into his office and pulled out his book, he read through the book to see if he could read and new pages. He could only read a few new pages all of them about a Multiverse called Underverse, it was confusing at first but Nightmare understood eventually. He decided to go to the main Au of Underverse X-Tale. {Or CrossTale I don't remember which one it is QwQ} Nightmare opened a portal and entered the Au it was all white Nightmare wondered if he accidentally went to the anti-void, but then he saw a Sans. He was sitting on the the ground crouched up, crying?
Nightmare slowly approached him sitting next to them, the sans lifted his head and jumped sideways a bit seeing Nightmare.

"Hey, it's okay..."

Nightmare said in his best attempt to reassure the sans. The sans just stared but broke back down into tears looking down at the ground. Nightmare moved closer to the sans placing his hand on there shoulder. They glanced up and started trembling, they launched themselves forward hugging Nightmare sobbing into his shoulder. Nightmare started to wonder what happened to this sans, Nightmare lightly hugged the sans back patting him on the back. But not long after Nightmare felt himself absorbing the Negative feelings, Nightmare didn't like the feeling of absorbing negitivity it didn't seem right. But the sans also seemed to have less negative emotions then when Nightmare first saw him. The sans let go of his hug a lent back, he wiped the tears from his face and looked up at Nightmare.

"Sorry..."

He said while glancing to his side.

"It's fine, do you feel better?"

The sans glanced back and smiled slightly.

"Yeah... Thanks..."

He looked down at the ground awkwardly. Nightmare wasn't going to ask why he was crying that would probably just make him upset again, but Nightmare had no clue what to say other than that.

"Um, do you live here?"

Nightmare looked around seeing how similar it was to the Anti-void.

"Yeah, It was once an Au, but I recently learnt there's no bringing back my Au..."

Nightmare saw the sans tear up again.

"Is there anywhere else you can go?"

Nightmare didn't want to see this sans suffer here he hoped he had somewhere to go.

"No..."

Nightmare felt sympathy for this sans, he was trapped here alone with the burden of his Au on his back and he couldn't even escape for a second.

"You could come with me..."

Nightmare said hesitantly. The sans looked at Nightmare surprised.

"And your offering this to a complete stranger because?"

Nightmare looked away remembering his Au, it was horrible there but he had somewhere to escape to even if it wasn't for very long.

"I just-"

Nightmare stopped himself, he glanced at the ground he felt as if he fiscsicly couldn't speak. 

"You don't have to explain yourself, I think I understand..."

Nightmare looked looked back towards the sans.

"My names Nightmare by the way."

"Cross."

"So are you coming?" 

The sans looked like he was debating the question.

"Sure." 

Nightmare stood up and opened a portal, beckoning Cross to walk through.
