Nightmare's so called rest wasn't exactly restfull, every time he tried to sleep Night showed up back in the dark void while Dream tortured him until he woke up. He actually only woke up when Dream shattered his soul, or it shattered from the amount of damage done to him. And Nightmare couldn't do anything, he was to weak to even defend himself he really was just useless. He just stared blankly at Dream who was currently pinning Nightmare to the ground while slowly tearing his soul apart, and despite this being a supposed dream Nightmare could feel the pain, even when he woke up some of the wounds Dream gave him where still there and his soul ached more every time he woke up. Slowly Nights soul was finally broken, causing Nightmare to wake up. Everything hurt, he couldn't do anything, his AU's destruction was his fault, he just ruined everything. He turned to see Error giving him a worried expression, Nightmare started wondering what he would do to hurt them. He wouldn't doubt it if he just walked out of his room one day and bam thier lives were ruined, he didn't want to do that to anyone he had already told himself that once he could leave he would, it would stop a lot of pain.
"How are you feeling Nightmare...?"
Nightmare was dragged out of his thoughts, he looked back at Error he still had the same worried expression as before.
Horrible...
Nightmare thought to himself, but he could feel the tears running down his face. He turned away from Error not wanting them to see him more weak then they probably already did. He felt Error sit next to him on the bed, in doing so Nightmare just turned away more.
"Nightmare..."
He could feel Errors gaze on him, he stayed silent. Error sighed.
"I know this is really hard to handle, and I'm not sure what you see in your sleep but I know it's bad, but you need to stay strong... No matter how hard things get it all ends, and I..."
Error stopped for a moment, before adding.
"I promise things will get better..."
Nightmare finally turned to look at Error as if wishing it would. Error must have been able to tell since he reached his hand up and wiped off Nightmare's tears.
"Stay strong... Okay...?"
Nightmare nodded reluctantly looking back in front of him. Nightmare had come to trust Error quite a bit, most of their free time was spent with eachother. And as much as Nightmare hated showing weakness Error was there when Night needed him. It was comforting...
"Hey Error...?"
Error looked back at Nightmare as if being pulled out of his thoughts.
"Do you remember that Au that Ink was talking about when we first met, one of the Alpha versions of this one...?"
Error nodded wondering why Nightmare would be asking about it.
"Could you... Could you take me there..."
Nightmare looked down closing his eyes waiting for a response, he could feel himself starting to tremble.
"Sure..."
Nightmare looked up at Error and smiled, Night really wanted to hug Error but he didn't want to trigger his hepephobia...
After a few hours Nightmare and Error decided to head to his DreamTale Au. They originally portaled in the village but Nightmare headed directly for the tree, Error following close behind. Once they got there Nightmare saw the stump and in front of it, Dream, he walked towards Dream and knelt in front of him. Error knelt beside Nightmare, looking back and fourth from Nightmare and Dream.
"Why did you want to come here..."
Nightmare started crying again, Error saw this and looked at Dream then back to Nightmare shifting uneasily.
"Remember when we first meet, how I just showed up out of nowhere..."
Error nodded curious on where this was going.
"That was my first time traveling through Multiverse's..."
Error looked at Nightmare worried about how much he was trembling.
"This is where I came from... This is my Au..."
Error looked around at the state of the hill, the dust still coated it and the blood had stained the ground.
"And that..."
Nightmare nodded towards Dream.
"Was my Brother..."
