"Nicholas!" a voice echoed in my dream, I suddenly woke up after and as usual, I see myself in the mirror hurrying to go downstairs to eat my breakfast.
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, How do I start this? Uhm. I'm Nicholas or you can call me Nick. I'm a college freshman and my first semester at University starts today.
I feel tired waking up this morning. Last night was such a hassle, I had to ready up on some things, and to be frank, and I think I slept around midnight
"You slept at 1 am" She's awake as well
"Well, I'm surprised your awake this early Lil' bro" My older sister has entered the dining room after taking a bath. I also have an older sister, her name is Maya, a 3rd-year college student studying at the university I'm going to today.
"Oh, you're awake already but how did you know that?"
"You don't remember huh? Your voice punctured through the wall and reached my room. Need more explanation?"
"No more please" to think about it, I was a bit noisy last night. I remembered chatting with my friends the whole night because we all were excited to start college and also I forgot, we were calling on the phone last night. I think that's why I was noisy.
"Now, now you two, stop that nonsense and eat up" Tch. . . We all sat down and ate our breakfast in peace
After breakfast, I went upstairs and took a bath then charged my phone while I was at it. After everything, I went back to my bed and rested for a while before going.
I fell into a state of sleep and...
-I see someone, it's a child or boy, wait is he gonna jump?
"Hey! Don't jump please" I shouted at him and when he noticed me, I didn't see his face from this angle. Wait a minute, weren't I in bed? Elsewhere I need to help this boy here ASAP before he will try to jump
"Please don't jump, just stay there, I'll come there to you" I approached him
"Let's talk, just don't jump, okay?" he sat down and I heard him crying. I asked
"Are you okay, are you hurt?" He didn't reply at first, I let him shed tears for a while then suddenly, he hugged me, I was surprised at first- but I need to comfort this little fellow here
"Let's talk okay? You don't need to jump"
"Can you tell me why you're here, where are your parents?" I asked him some questions
"I... don't like... He doesn't love me anymore" he replied
"Who doesn't love you anymore?"
"Papa" I was surprised on the boy's answer
"No, your Papa loves you, don't think that he doesn't love you. You should not go here, it's too dangerous for someone like you" He then stopped crying and hugged me once more, I feel bad for the kid. Someone then called out "Nicholas... NICHOLAS!" wait- isn't that my name? I felt pain in my face. . . I woke up
"Someone's calling you; you left your phone downstairs"Oh, it's just Maya
"You don't need to slap me to wake me up"
"Just take the call and don't be forgetful of your things next time" she left the room and the phone's still ringing.
*ring* *ring* *ring*
Wait a moment; I just woke up from a weird dream,
*Felix is calling*
"Yes?" I asked
"Where are you? We are here already"
"What time is it already? I just woke up from sleep"
"It's already 11, the heck"
"Shet, it's almost time for the orientation, I'll arrive in 5 minutes, just wait,"
I hung up and hurriedly ate my lunch and packed up things...
"Maya, I'm gonna go early to the campus, they are already there bye!"
"Okay, I need to finish up on things here"
"Bye Ma!" she smiled on my way to the door
"Good luck nak!" the last words I heard before leaving the house.
University of the Philippines [Entrance] 11:30 AM
Pheww! Just made it in time, I think I see them now. As I come closer to my friends, it seems they are upset about something. I checked my phone and saw 10+ messages in my taskbar and it was 5 minutes ago. This is bad, very bad
"Well...." Felix starting the conversation
"I can explain everything, first the Grab driver didn't go fast enough then we ran out of gas then we needed to go refill in a nearby Petron station...
"Stop, no need to explain, let's just get going okay?" Minerva stopped me with a smile plastered on her face
"We waited about 10 minutes for you here, what were you doing? Pfft"
"No need to quarrel about it, let's get inside and with your mouths shut, we'll be late for freshman orientations, UNDERSTOOD?" Minerva fiercely said
We went inside with our mouths closed shut.
This has been our friendship since high school. We were all freshmen in high school at that time when we met.
We three are complete opposites of each other which were quite surprising for a friendship to work.
Minerva, our only girl in the group is like our strict teacher in 8th grade. Though she might be strict with us sometimes, she is like the parent in the group because most of the time she stops our quarrels and always gives the right decisions for the three of us.
Our Minerva is a Martial artist so we usually don't try to provoke her for safety reasons but to be real with you guys; she also has this fun side which we love the most.
Now let me introduce Felix, our happy-go-lucky guy in the group. He is the clumsiest of the three of us. He happens to have had accidents everywhere he goes. Since we met, at least every day, there will always be some kind of accident that will happen but he is also the luckiest guy in the group.
One time, he saw a thousand-peso bill on the road while we were walking in the park and most of the accidents that happened were mostly happy-accidents if I must say. He's our lucky charm and a unique fellow in the group.
"Nick....earth to Nick... Hello?" I saw a palm in front of my face and I realized we are near the venue
"You are daydreaming again huh?"
"Nah... Just excited for the orientation" suddenly my stomach starts to ache and I feel nauseous
"You're nauseous now?" Minerva asked, I know this feeling very well
"I guess so *nauseousness intensifies*" She gave me candy and some essential oil
"Here smell onto this and eat the candy"
"Thanks, Mi" I always get this nauseous when going to a place with a ton of people or going to an event. We can always rely on Minerva, I owe one her for this
"Let's sit somewhere on the right side Mi" Felix suggested, I need to sit down
"Sure, c'mon Nick just hang in there, you're not gonna die okay?" I'm not but I feel like
"Okay" I think I'm gonna puke any second now. Stay calm self, breathe in and out
"Quiet now you two, it's about to start" I'm not happy on how this is starting to be.
